Riddles (Mga Bugtong) These are statements that contain superficial words, but they function figuratively and metaphors, and are in the form of questions. Example: "Hindi hayop , hindi tao , naglalakad kahit nakatali .": (Not an animal, not a person, walks even when tied) Answer: Relo (Clock) 34
Riddles (Mga Bugtong) "May ulo, walang leeg ; may katawan , walang tiyan ; may paa , walang binti.": (Has a head, no neck; has a body, no stomach; has feet, no legs) Answer: Mesa (Table) 35

Folk Songs These are folk lyrics that are usually chanted. These usually contain ideas on aspirations, hopes, and everyday life and expressions of love for loved ones. 41
Lullabies is locally known as the Hele. These are sung to put to sleep babies. The content varies, but usually, parents sing these with ideas on how hard life is and how they hope that their child will not experience the hardships of life. Example: “Ili Ili Tulog Anay”, “Sa Ugoy ng Duyan”, “Dandansoy” 42
Love Songs these are known as the Harana . It can also be called Courtship Songs and are used by young men to capture the heart of the girl that they love. 43
Religious Songs are songs or chants that are usually given during exorcisms and thanksgiving during good harvest. Songs of Death are lamentations that contain the roll of good deeds that the dead has usually done to immortalize his or her good image. 44
FolkTales (Mga kwentong Bayan) Folktales are traditional stories, often passed down orally through generations, that reflect the culture and beliefs of a particular group of people. 45
Myths these tackle the natural to strange occurrences of the earth and how things were created with an aim to give an explanation to things. Bathala for the Tagalogs and the Gueurang for the Bikolanos . Bernardo Carpio a folk hero for Tagalogs Paradise is known as Maca, while Hell is Kasanaaan Malakas at Maganda 46
Legends Philippine legends encompass a rich tapestry of folklore featuring diverse mythical creatures, heroes, and origin stories. Example: Aswang, Tikbalang , Kapre, Alamat ng Pinya , Legend of Maria Makiling 47
Fables are short or brief stories that cater the children of the native Filipinos and are usually bounded by good manners and right conduct. These stories use animals as characters that represent a particular value or characteristic. 48
