WHAT IS MOOC ?
The term MOOC was coined in 2008 by Dave
Cormier from the university of Prince Edward
Island.
A MOOC is a free web-based distance learning
programme that is designed for the participations of
large number of geographically dispersed students.

A massive open online course (MOOC) is a
model for delivering learning content online
to any person who wants to take a course ,
with no limit on attendance

TYPES OF MOOC
There are two types of MOOC
X MOOC : content-based MOOCs
C MOOC : connectivistMOOCs

STRUCTURE OF ILLUSTRATING MOOC

HISTORY OF MOOCS
It started earlier in the 1728 by Caleb Philips, the teacher who
introduced the method of Short Hand, in use of mailed lesson to
the students.
The vary rapid growing in 1930’s of student engaging in radio
lessons led to proposals to use it for long distance education at
many universities in the 1980’s classrooms were linked to a
remote campus to provide closed-circuit video access for some
students.

PURPOSE OF MOOC
MOOCs diversify education by adding classes to a
virtual platform , giving anyone in the world access to
the course.
Teachers are able to handle large number of students
at a time.
MOOCs allows students to access virtually any topic
they want to learn.

ELEMENTS OF MOOC
Four essential elements for successful MOOC :
Autonomy–students decide their limits of participations.
Diversity –students are from different background and
countries.
Openness –Allowing every person to participate.
Interactivity-students should chat, social networking,
collaboration, meeting and video.

THE AIM OF MOOCS IN CONNECTIVE KNOWLEDGE
Aim of MOOC’s is a mode of delivering education and
instruction, often on an individual basis, to students who
are not physically present in a traditional setting such as
a classroom.
It also aim on the effective and efficiency use of
education with the relevant information connecting all
the people from different areas ( diversity learning).

ADVANTAGES OF MOOC’s
Brings people from all over the world together, globally interacts with other
student from abroad countries.
The information is accurate, relevant, effective, up to date and knowledgeable
because it enables people to search online and do and submit their activity
through web is the solution to overcrowded classroom.

DISADVANTAGES OF MOOC’S
It’s impossible to facilitate meaningful conversations in a classroom in a classroom
with thousands students. There are electronic alternatives. Message boards and
chatrooms, but the intimacy of face-to-face communication is lost, emotions often
misunderstood. This is a particular challenge for humanities cources.
Makes it easier for people to drop out.
Many people failed to experience the university lifestyle.
