SIMPLE PAST: REGULAR VERBS

SPELLING RULES (SIMPLE PAST) VERB + ED ENDING IN “Y” ENDING IN “E” ENDING IN “C-V-C” Ask ed Walk ed Cook ed Enter ed Stud ied *Play ed Danced Pla nn ed We change a verb into past with the ending “ED” When the verb finishes in Y after a consonant, we change into “IED” When the verb finishes in E, we only add “D” When the verb (one syllable) finishes in CONSONANT – VOWEL – CONSONANT, we double the last consonant and add “ED”
