What is it ? The fourth of July is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the adoption of the declaration of independence on July 4, 1776, declaring independence from the kingdom of Great Britain .

Customs - P icnic Independence Day celebrations often take place outdoors. Families often celebrate 4th of July attending a picnic
Customs - Barbecue Families often celebrate 4th of July attending a barbecue The decorations like ballons and clothes are generally coloured red white and blue , the colours of the American flag .

4th of July in Portugal In Portugal, 4th of July festivities include : live music , food booths and games, fireworks at 10.30 pm , etc. I have already been to a 4th of July party and it looked like I was in America because of the picnics, barbecues, and the wonderful fireworks . It was interesting because I got to know the 4th of July holiday that Americans both celebrate and appreciate .
