4. WHAT IS 5R?
RETHINK
REPAIR
REUSE
REDUCE
RECYCLE

5. HOW I 'RETHINK'
•Choosing my rubbish
•Learning about biodegradable material and
looking out for special 'codes' - while they are
recyclable they can be toxic as well

6. HOW I 'REPAIR'
•mending old buttons on
shirts or zippers on skirts
•giving new purpose to
'junk' - such as mugs
become small pots/ vases
•replacing watch straps or
batteries to items

7. HOW I 'REUSE'
•cutting out preloved clothes into dish rags
or table clothes
•printing out personal notes on used paper
•packing food in washed, cleansed
biodegradable food packing container
•how about reusing your old Raya or Xmas
decorations

8. HOW I 'REDUCE'
•when it comes to reading material, opt for
a digital copy instead of on paper if
possible
•if you're heading to the same direction,
consider carpooling to work
•invest in energy saving apparatus or
appliances. for eg: LED lights

9. HOW I 'RECYCLE'
•its tedious work but have a try at sorting
your rubbish - paper, plastic, cans etc..
•donate to charities or to those in need
•earn extra personal cash by participating
in local carboot sales or pop up stores

19. HENCE ....
•clean your bottles or cartons first before
sorting them
•sort the items into clear, identifiable ,
degradable plastic bags or containers
•if you are extra nice - label them
accordingly for the garbage collector to
see
•place them BESIDE the bin, not IN the bin

20. •MOST IMPORTANTLY
"GET YOUR CHILDREN INVOLVED IN
THE PROCESS : EDUCATE AND
ENCOURAGE THEM TO PARITICIPATE
IN HOUSEHOLD WASTE HANDLING"

I am working on trying
