3. What apps can teachers use to help manage the classroom?

4. Two apps that can be used for academics or entertainment are ABC Mouse and PBS Kids. PBS Kids is a multiuse app for times in the classroom when a "brain break" is needed with curriculum-based games and entertainment. ABC mouse is a multiuse, multisubject app including; Math, Reading, Art, Science, and Music, it is great for skill building , can be used inside and outside the classroom , and is easily self-guided by the learner, the app is fun and interactive can also be used for entertainment purposes . These apps are great classroom management tools .

5. Two apps to help learners in Math, Reading, Science, and Social Studies are IXL and Adventure Academy. IXL is a multisubject app including; Math, English, Science, Social Studies, and Spanish , it is curriculum-based and can be accessed in and out of the classroom and has self-guided skill building exercises that promote independence. Adventure Academy, is also a multiuse, multisubject app including; Math, Reading, Science, Social Studies, it is great for self-guided skill building games and activities . These apps are great for additional support to struggling readers and progress monitoring.

6. Duolingo is useful for skill building in foreign languages, especially in multicultural classrooms. This helps to culturally expand our learners to be familiar with the other languages their classmates might speak.

7. Two apps that are great curriculum tools are Prodigy and Khan Academy. Prodigy is a Math and English curriculum-based app with self-guided skill building exercises and can be accessed in and out of the classroom. Khan Academy is an app with a wide range of subject content including; Art, History, Computing, Math, Science, Social Studies and Humanities. It is a curriculum-based app ad can be accessed from in and out of the classroom, self-guided skill building exercises, activities, and assessments for the learner. These apps are great for progress monitoring.

8. Two apps sometimes used together are Kahoot and Google Classroom. A teacher might post a Kahoot link in the student’s Google Classroom. Kahoot is a multiuse assessment tool app that is fun and engaging and can be accessed inside and outside the classroom. Google Classroom is a multiuse classroom app, is easy to access from anywhere anytime, student work and information is secure, and can be accessed by both teacher and parent. Both of these apps can be used when students need additional support from teachers and/or staff.

9. Class Dojo is an app that is great for communication and acts as a link between home and school for parent and teacher. It is easy to use, and messages are securely stored.

11. What we learned: There are many apps to consider for classroom use. With so many useful apps to choose from it’s hard to know which ones will be the best for you and your students. Technology has a large role in our classrooms and making use of curriculum-based apps can supplement instruction and enhance your lessons.
