So you can see 7zip is not in Ubuntu linux -by default it does not get installed... You can see the command to install Sudo apt-get install p7zip-full Sudo apt-get install p7zip will also work, full Let’s do it.. So for Ubuntu the command is 7zr In fedora it is 7za... Actually, 7z has different commands 7zr is one of them 7za is anoth 7z is another It is not and it should not be different based on L inux distribution if it is the same software—though not impossible to be different...
Let’s try to install the full version.. 7z 7za 7zr 7z 7za 7zr
Copy paste did not work... It can be changed using virtual box configuration changes whether to allow gust to host clipboard sharing or not... Anyway... You can see the syntax by using man 7za
You can see one example command and related explanations Lzma is the algorithm name for 7zip Mx =9 the most compression One thing looks like the output size is more than input The reason: my guess the files that I compressed is almost empty The output file usually will use some meta data inside the zip file, that can increase the output file (size more than original) -guessing Though you are supposed to get 30 to 50% compression using 7zip
Let’s see some compress software for Ubuntu You will find similar for Fedora or other linux Tar – the achieve command can also compress along with archiving You need to pass j or z J is for bzip z is for gz Just different algorithms and different levels of compression 7z can be slower than others if you want more compression mx =9, ultra compression level
