1. A CASE PRESENTATION OF Elbow hygroma in dog Presented by- Mridul krishna prajapati

2. History According to the owner Dog has a swelling on his elbow from past one months Dog kept lying on the hard surfaces

3. Clinical signs The clinical parameters of dog were in normal range There were no signs of lameness present in the dog A s pherical protruded swelling was present on the left elbow of the dog

4. Diagnosis On palpation , The protruded mass was fluffy and a little firm Absence of pain reflexes Fluid drained from that swelling was yellow serous transudate in nature The protruded swelling was diagnosed as elbow hygroma

5. Management Initially, shaving was done over the hygroma mass Then it was pricked with a 18 G needle and whole fluid was drained out from it G entamicin (1ml) and P rednisolone (1 ml) are infiltrated inside the hygroma Dressing was done with cotton and bandages Lastly , crepe bandage was applied tightly for pressure bandaging

6. Post operative care Elbow protector is applied Adviced for- Tab C hymoral forte - 1 tab twice daily ( contains proteolytic enzyme) Tab B ayrocin 150 mg - ½ tab BID for 7 days ( Enrofloxacin ) Weekly infiltration of hygroma should be done Provide soft bedding to the dog

7. What is elbow hygroma ? Elbow hygroma is a serous fluid accumulation over the olecranon caused by repeated trauma in dogs It commonly develops on pressure points of body like elbow It occurs due to excessive time spend in recombency on hard surfaces Hygroma formation is exclusively restricted to large breed dogs Old age dogs having limited mobility are also susceptible for hygroma formation

8. Management When Hygroma become very large or infected it can be painful and it requires surgical drainage or surgical removal of hygroma If hygroma is small and non infectious, it can be managed by conservative treatment like pressure bandaging and providing soft bedding to dog

9. Weight of dog should be managed Prevent dog lying on hard surfaces Dog beds can be provided
