A Natural Right, A Process, and Lifelong Schooling
A Natural Right Values are the principals or ideals we hold as important, good, desirable, or worthwhile. They are our basic and fundamental beliefs that are closely linked to our identity and they guide or motivate our attitudes and behaviours. Values are usually stated as a word or short phrase and are usually positive.

A Process The dynamic process of acknowledging, understanding internalizing, upholding, and practicing universal truths and moral principles constitutes education in values. No one can do this for him. Only he can reach the goals of Values Education. Educators - parents and teachers - are participants and agents; they facilitate and guide the process.
Lifelong Schooling Education in values is cumulative preparation for life and eternity. It is NOT JUST: a course of study that has to be covered during the school year; or definitions to memorized, group dynamics, dialouges and brainstorming; or case studies - though these factors are essential in values education, these are not enough. Lifelong schooling begins long before the child enters the Values Education class at school; it begins at birth.
Curriculum planners in the elementary and high schools should carefully avoid application of subject matter in the social studies and religion classes. Whether or not public, vocational, barangay schools, or secretarian schools run the religious private schools already offer Values Education, ALL present and future curricular programs schould incorporate the Foundations of Values Education. Values Education as a Separate Subject at School
Education in values is developmental, a gradual on-going process during which the child learns HOW to reason out truths. Obviously, the HOW - or methodology - is vital to the process. Methodology
Although values are ‘caught’ through inductive understanding and examples, they still have to be ‘taught’ deductively. it is the child’s right to know deeply about the universal truths for objective reasoning. the elders’ guidance is a must putting time constraints limits the opportunity of children to discover the teachings of Moral law lessons in objective truths aids today’s moral confusion. The Deductive Process
CHART 5 - The Deductive Reasoning Process in Values Education The Deductive Reasoning Process in Values Education is the Step by Step, Discursive Process The Child arrives at truth through 1) Reflecting 2) interpreting 3) applying 4) solving problems 5) evaluating 6) drawing conclusions
