The Value Of Time

CHARACTERS OF THE STORY A BOY (with procrastinating nature) A MONK

NATURE OF A BOY Lazy and Procrastinating. Always delayed his work. He is falling behind in studies. He do not value his time. He did not care about his future .

One day a wise monk arrived in their town. He was renowned for his wisdom and enlightenment. He reached the place where monk was staying and waited and when his turn came he bowed to the monk and said, “O revered one , please help me . I am failure in my life , I am lagging behind my friends and classmates.” The monk said to the young boy that “ you are suffering because you do not value your time , you procrastinate and waste your precious moments which you cam never get back.” Then the monk tell a story to that young boy…………………

Generous and kind king known for caring for his people. King meets old classmate from gurukul who is lazy, poor, and blames others for his misfortunes . Classmate expresses despair to the king, citing inability to secure a job due to reputation. King offers a solution: to collect as much gold and gems from the treasury before sunset. Classmate accepts with gratitude, seeing it as an opportunity for a fresh start.

Man rushes home excitedly to tell his wife about something. Wife encourages him to go get the treasure, saying the time is good. Man feels hungry and asks for lunch before going. Wife quickly prepares lunch, and man eats slowly, thinking he has plenty of time. After lunch, he feels sleepy and decides to take a nap before going for the treasure. He ends up sleeping for two hours instead of just a short nap. When he wakes up, it's late afternoon, and he realizes he's wasted time. He sets out towards the treasury but decides to rest under a tree due to the hot weather. He falls asleep again, this time for four hours. When he wakes up, it's evening, and he rushes towards the palace, realizing he's running out of time.

A lazy man missed the opportunity to attain wealth because he failed to value his time, arriving at the palace after it had closed. Reflecting on the monk's tale, a young boy felt ashamed of his own disregard for time and thanked the monk for the lesson . After ceasing procrastination, he embraced productivity, achieving success, happiness, and garnering increased respect from both friends and family.
