Critical thinking stands for the ability to analyze and scrutinize the given

Critical thinking skills are extremely important as they help generate
completely novel ideas. It is an essentia l skill to possess as it will help your

Being able to quickly adapt to all sorts of environments is an incredible
strength which is often overlooked.
If your child possesses the flexibility to adjust to the new environment,
then it will help them learn more efficiently.
If your child is flexible then it will not only aid them academically but also
professionally as they already possess the skills to deal with any changes
or conflicts.
3. Organization
Planning and organizing your material ahead of schedule will go a long way.
Organizational skills not only help you keep track of your study plans but
also help you manage time.
Organizational skills are not only beneficial for your school work but they
also help you manage your other activities.
Hence, if your child possesses organizational skills then it is safe to say
that they are responsible enough to finish their homework on time without
you telling them to do so!

It also shows that your child is poise enough to clearly reflect upon the
problem in question.
Academic Weaknesses

Weaknesses must not be looked at with resentment. Recognizing your
weaknesses is the first step towards turning them into strengths.

Let’s discuss a few of the most common weaknesses found in students that
hinder their academic growth.
1. Procrastination
Procrastination plagues every student’s academic career. Purposely
delaying your work till the last minute is called procrastination. It adds to
their burden and makes them so stressed out that they fail to carry out
their tasks properly.
Here are a few tips to help you overcome procrastination:
• Do your homework as soon as you get it.
• Make a schedule and plan your activities.
• Prioritize what’s important.
• Make sure to finish all your scheduled tasks for the day.
• Turn off your cell phone and remove all the distractions.

2. Lack of Focus
If your child has a short attention span then it may become difficult for
them to focus on the task a t hand.
Lack of focus can make them fall behind their peers. However, as soon as
you have recognized this weakness, you can work towards strengthening it.
Here are a few tips to help enhance your child’s focus:
• Remove all sorts of distractions.

• If they have a short attention span, divide the study material into
shorter segments.
• Make time for exercise.
• Make sure their diet contains good fats.
You may also want to get your child tested for ADHD (Attention Deficit
Hyperactive Disorder) if they are showing an y symptoms. ADHD is treatable
and can get better with medication and therapy.
3. Fear of Failure
Students these days have the burden of parents’ expectations on top of
their crushing academic stress. Hence, students fear failure and letting
their parents down. Ironically, this fear of failure leads them to
underperform in their studies.
Anxiety and stress clouds their minds which slows down their learning
process and halts their growth.
Here are a few suggestions to help them overcome their fear:
• Give them reassurance that your love and affection is not
conditional.
• Meditate with them.
• Teach them to think positively.
• Tell them that it’s okay to fail.
• Teach them to learn from their mistakes.
• Tell them that their failure does not define them.
4. Lack of Enthusiasm

Lack of enthusiasm is often the culprit behind your child’s low grades. It
may also be the reason behind your child’s lack of focus.
Students usually lack enthusiasm in their not -so-favorite subjects.
Fortunately, this is not as big of a problem as it seems to be.
You can help them in this regard by:
• Trying to develop their interest in the subject by making it
entertaining.
• Reward them for completing their tasks.
• Motivate them to do better.
5. Disorganization
Disorganization can make your work seem more difficult than it is in reality.
Disorganization may cause you to procrastinate even more.
Hence, you must help your child organize their tasks and plan their
activities for the day.
You can help them become mo re organized by:
• Encouraging them to make a study plan.
• Making lists.
• Noting their homework in diaries.
• Making a time table and sticking to it.
• Doing the difficult work first.

Our weaknesses make us human. They must not be looked down upon. We
can help our children become better humans by empathizing with them and
helping them overcome their shortcomings.
