Good Morning
“Guess Me”
“I am a song sung by the 5 th Harmony”
“Work”
“ I am a letter “G” which is not outside”
“Inner - G” “Energy”
“ My first three letters are your relatives added to the second vowel. And to complete me, you need to know the sound of the clock”
“Kin-E-Tic” “Kinetic”
“ I start with the first two letters that show respect with addition of the house use in camping, and to complete me add the sound shall ”
“Po-Tent-Shall” “Potential”
“Sound of the cow added with Treat you better of a known singer”
“Moo - Shawn” “Motion”
“My First Syllable came from the word movie with decimation of I and the second syllable is what you say when we are fated to each other”
“Move - Meant” “Movement”
“Objectives”
A. Explain the concept of energy. C. Calculate the value of the two major forms of mechanical energy. B. Identify the two major forms of mechanical energy. D. Appreciate the importance of energy in our daily life. Objectives:
Forms of Energy
Group 1 - Team Word Smart Since you are Word Smart you can do the “WRITE ALL YOU KNOW”. Mechanics: You are given the chance to create a diagram and write all you know about “ENERGY”.
Group 2 - Team Actor and Actress Since you are actors and actresses you can do the “ACT IT” Mechanics: You are going to perform a short play pertaining to the two forms of energy, on how it happens.
Group 3 - Team Logic Since you love a logic, you can do the “FIX ME UP”. Mechanics : Get the puzzle inside the envelope. The activity has a twist after completing the puzzle turn it back and then the mystery formula will be revealed. Solve the given equation using the mystery formula.
Criteria 5 4 3 ACCURACY The students gave all the necessary information about the activity The students missed some necessary information The students missed many necessary information COOPERATION All the member of the group are cooperate actively 1-3 students are not participating. 4 and above of the students are not participating PRESENTATIO N The students presented their work clearly The students presented their work not so clearly. The students present their work not clear. SPEED The students finished their work on time. The students exceed 2minutes after the given time. The students exceed 5minutes after the given time.
Energy
Energy Ability to do work. Everything that happens in this world uses energy. We can’t see energy, but it is everywhere around us. Never created nor destroyed. Can only be STORED or TRANSFERRED
Two Forms of Energy Potential Energy Kinetic Energy 1 2
Energy stored in an object. “Potential” means the energy has the ability to do something useful later on. Potential
“Examples of Potential Energy” Stretched rubber band Water at the top of a water fall Yo-yo held in your hand A drawn Bow and Arrow
The higher an object, the more potential energy. The mass an object has, the more potential energy it has. Potential
“Which object has more potential energy?” BRICK FEATHER
A brick has more mass than the feather; therefore more potential energy.
PE = mgh m – mass of object (kg) g – gravitational acceleration on Earth = 9.8 m/s ² h – height of an object (m) Potential
What is the potential energy of a 0.3 kg ball lifted to a height of 5.0 m above the ground? Potential
When stored energy begins to move, the object now transfers from potential energy into kinetic energy. Potential to kinetic
Energy of a moving object “kinetic” means movement When stored energy is being used up, it is making things move or happen. kinetic
The faster the object moves, the more kinetic energy is produced. The greater the mass and speed of an object, the more kinetic energy there will be. kinetic
“Examples of Kinetic Energy”
“When these objects move at the same speed, which will have more kinetic energy?” TRUCK CAR
ANSWER: TRUCK The truck has more mass; therefore, more kinetic energy
An object has the MOST kinetic energy when it’s movement is the GREATEST. When an object has the LEAST potential energy, it has the MOST kinetic energy. kinetic
KE = ½ mv ² m – mass (kg) v – velocity (m/s) KE – kinetic energy (J) kinetic
If a 0.2 kg ball is thrown with a velocity of 6 m/s, what is its KE. kinetic
“Which object has more potential energy?”
