2. A. Latar Belakang Pendidikan diartikan sebagai ‘tuntunan dalam hidup tumbuhnya anak-anak’. Maksud Pendidikan yaitu: menuntun segala kodrat yang ada pada anak-anak, agar mereka dapat mencapai keselamatan dan kebahagiaan yang setinggi-tingginya baik sebagai manusia maupun sebagai anggota masyarakat. Anak-anak itu sebagai makhluk, manusia, dan benda hidup, sehingga mereka hidup dan tumbuh menurut kodratnya sendiri. ‘kekuatan kodrat yang ada pada anak-anak itu tiada lain ialah segala kekuatan yang ada dalam hidup batin dan hidup lahir dari anak-anak itu karena kekuasaan kodrat. Maka pendidik hanya dapat menuntun tumbuh atau hidupnya kekuatan kekuatan itu, agar dapat memperbaiki lakunya (bukan dasarnya) hidup dan tumbuhnya . Dalam pendidikan perlunya menumbuhkan budi pekerti, watak, atau karakter merupahasil dari bersatunya gerak pikiran, perasaan, dan kehendak atau kemauan sehingga menimbulkan tenaga. Perlu diketahui bahwa budi berarti pikiranperasaan-kemauan, sedangkan pekerti artinya ‘tenaga’. Jadi budi pekerti merupakan sifat jiwa manusia, mulai angan-angan hingga menjelma sebagai tenaga. Dengan kata lain budi pekerti tersebut dapat dilihat sebagai profil pelajar pancasila.Disana terdapat cerminan enam profil pelajar pancasila yang mencerminkan karakter sebagai pelajar indonesia.
