21. Alignment for Advanced Yoga Asana The advance asanas that are taught during various asana classes throughout the duration of the teacher training are brought up for analytical discussions and practical sessions of methods to adjust advance postures with both verbal cues and hands-on adjustments. Learning revolves around demonstrations, observation and practicums by assisting the lead instructors during some advanced yoga classes. Students will demonstrate observe and assist lead instructors in adjusting in a basic yoga class. Learning Objective Be able to identify misalignments of advance postures. Be able to observe student’s capacity during adjustments. Be able to safely and gently adjust advance postures with verbal cues and with hands-on adjustments. To provide adjusting and assisting techniques of yoga asana class.  

22. Asana Adjustment and Correction Students learn how to use verbal cues, hands-on adjustments and props to correct a practitioner’s alignment during asana practice. Through a guided practice of asana modifications, they learn variations and adjustments. In these yoga sessions, the students will be taught how to guide their students safely, and make adjustment for advance postures and other advance practices. They will also be taught how to correct the posture of a student and techniques of a proper alignment of yoga postures. Learning Objective To be able to make alignment adjustments in a student’s practice based on an understanding of their level. To teach a safe way of correcting and adjusting the posture. To teach to observe the students’ capacity in performing a posture. To teach the techniques of aligning a posture. To teach modification of the yoga posture according to one’s capacity, flexibility and physical fitness. To teach how to support yoga postures.

23. Different Concepts for Yoga Classes Themes that are set to incorporate and emphasize awareness in terms of spirituality, physical health, emotional health or mental health plays a huge role in assisting students in setting and maintaining their intention for participating an advance yoga class. Spiritual themes includes include the concept of chakras, the elements, full moon or new moon, summer or winter solstice, spring or autumn equinox, balance or centering, gratitude, etc. Health theme includes yoga for stress-relief, relaxation, flexibility, being positive, self-acceptance, strengthening for health, etc. Students are given opportunities to select a theme that resonates with them, create a lesson plan based on the theme and to integrate them into a teaching session, while maintaining the integrity of the asana practice. Learning Objective Understanding the meaning behind each theme. Be able to integrate selected themes into an advance class while maintaining the integrity of the practice.

24. Science of yoga teaching As a teacher, you are guiding multiple individuals in a group setting. Each has their own physical capabilities and limitations. How does one teach effectively, while ensuring that no one is left behind? We will discuss the difference between things which are urgent and important, and why we need to pay attention to them. Learning Objective To learn how to teach effectively, while ensuring students' safety.

25. Teaching and Practice Description In Full Group, Small Group and One on One settings, students will teach a series of asanas, while applying breath, alignment and philosophy.   Learning Objective To learn how to use language that is clear, precise and inclusive. To learn how to have 'stage presence' and to notice how a teacher's presence affects the class. To learn how to sequence and design a well rounded Yoga class. To learn how to demo on the mat and teach 'off the mat'. To learn how to create a class designed for special or specific needs of the students. To learn how to begin to apply adjustments; verbally, visually and physically, in a safe and appropriate manner.
