BIOGRAPHY Muhammad Iqbal, also known as Allama Iqbal, is the National Poet of Pakistan. He was a poet, philosopher, politician, lawyer, and scholar. Iqbal was born on November 9, 1877, in Punjab, Sialkot, Pakistan, to Kashmiri parents. He was know for his poetry and for his influential efforts in trying to make a separate state for Muslims
EDUCATION Iqbal wad educated at Scotch Mission College in Sialkot. In 1905, he left for further studies in Europe, he earned a degree in philosophy from the university of Cambridge, He also received BAs in, English literature, and Arabic at Government College University. Iqbal was influenced by the teachings of his philosophy teacher, Sir Thomas Arnold, to pursue higher education in the West. So In 1907, Iqbal moved to Germany to pursue his doctoral studies, and earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich in 1908 On his return from Europe, he gained his livelihood by the practice of law
WORKS Iqbal was most famously know for his poetry Iqbal became prominent since 1899, when he first recited Nalay - e - Yatem in Lahore Late the poems he wrote up to 1905, showed patriotism that includes the Tarana-e-Hind He also wrote the Bang-e-Dara in 1924 which is a collection of Urdu poetry written in three recognizable phases of his life he also wrote on most of the Indian iconic personalities such as Rama Tirtha, Guru Nanak and Rama. Iqbal was also considered the "spiritual father of Pakistan" for inspiring the Pakistan movement in British India ,
Political role Iqbal always believed that Muslims needed a separate homeland In 1926, Iqbal was elected as secretary general of Muslim league Punjab He delivered the Allahabad Address on 29 th December 1930 during the21st annual session of the All- India Muslim league. He also participated in the 2 nd and 3 rd round table conferences in 1931-1932. In 1934 Iqbal became the president of ML Punjab. After Jinnah went into voluntary exile Iqbal wrote to him and told him to come back to India and guide the Muslims. Due to Iqbal's efforts Jinnah came back to India in 1934, where Jinnah became the president of ML .
