INTRODUCTION Site Overview :- This project deals with widening of roads in district of Gorakhpur . Under this project four lane roads are modified as six lane roads. The project includes the improvement of roads connecting from Naushad to Padleyganj . Project Details :- Project type : Widening and Strengthening of Road Guide : Er. Yashwant Kumar (J.E.) Project cost : 90 crores Location : Naushad to Padleyganj Length of Road : 5.8 km 3
LAND ACQUISITION & DISPLACEMENT According to officials, the encroachment for about 28 meters width have been removed for six lanes. The electric poles and wires falling on this six lane have been removed. Now Underground cable is being laid. About 771 trees have been cut down. 32,802 new plants are to be planted. 4
METHODOLOGY One side was excavated till a depth of 95 cm. The other side was not excavated and the vehicles are allowed from that side. It will have a lane 3.5 m wide each and the soil like moorum or clay is filled and is compacted using soil compactors up to a depth of 50cm. Compacted Subgrade Soil 6
Sub-base course – GSB Gravel shall consist of hard, durable and sound rock fragments, free from dirt, organic matter, shale and other deleterious substances. Mixture of aggregates and dust laid on sub grade with the help of grade r . A f ter that co m pac t ion is done by using vib r ato r y roller till to get the dry density 2.16 g/cc. 7
Base course - WMM Aggregates used are of the smaller sizes and the binders are premixed in a batching p lant or in a mixing machine. Wet Mix Macadam is prepared in mixing plant and immediately after mixing, it is spread uniformly and evenly upon the prepared GSB. Then it is compacted properly to obtain maximum dry density of 2.17 g/cc and OMC is 7% . 8
Prime Coat Prime coat is sprayed with the help of emulsion sprayer on the wet mix macadam with the range of 0.7 kg/sq.m. 9
Binder course – DBM The DBM is laid with the help of sensor paver. The leveling is done while laying for maintaining camber. It is laid for a thickness of 50 mm. Compaction is done by Roller. 10
Tack Coat Tack coat is sprayed with the help of emulsion sprayer on the Dense B ituminous M acadam with the range of 0.2 kg/ sq.m . 11
Surface course - BC Bituminous concrete is laid on the Dense B ituminous M acadam with the help of sensor paver with a thickness of 53mm . I t was compacted by asphalt compactor up to a thickness of 30mm. 12
Road Open to Traffic The road is made open to traffic after minimum of 4-6 hours after its construction. 13
LAB TESTS California Bearing Ratio Test (CBR) Table 1: Standard load for different penetration value Sand Replacement Method The bulk density of given sand is 1500 kg/m 3 . The average value of dry density for given soil is 1667 kg/m 3 .
