About This Presentation

GCSE Animal artists

Slide Content

What makes a confident artist page? Clear title: Artist Name (not huge like this one!) Examples of artist’s work (labelled) Relevant background A minimum of 1 artist study In-depth written analysis

“ Visual Analysis ” can say much more than words This is a perfect example that demonstrates exceptional skill and clear understanding of an artist style “Photo realism” The artist theme clearly relates to “objects” Annotations are still needed to provide context: This student did add annotations on the page, but typed them and inserted flaps under the photos so they were not the main focal point Lift up here Lift up here Lift up here

Your artist may be a painter, however your study doesn’t have to be the same media This student is clearly inspired by surrealism and this observation in pen and washl is very confident and still gets marks in the top band

You may want to show your personal response to your artist on the same page That is also totally fine

TOP TIPS How to begin the research and gather the relevant information Always begin by reading and gathering the facts. Find quotes, what does the artist say about their work. Split your annotations into 4 parts: Context: about the artist Media: Select one or 2 photos and anaylse techniques Style: What is the work about Intentions: What elements do you want to develop within your own work? 3. Finally be creative with your presentation so it visually shows your artist style. Annotations should be visible but not the first thing we see. Show at least 4-6 images by the artist

CONTEXT: Describe your artist (If the artist is still alive: Present tense, if not then past tense) Read about your artist, gather the facts What type of artist are they? Who are they influenced by? MEDIA: Describe the media the artist uses Why does the artist use the media/ colour etc Select an artist image, describe why you selected the image, anaylse the elements STYLE/THEME/SUBJECT MATTER Read about your artist, gather the facts, quote them, what does the artist say about their own work? What is the art work about? Who is the artist inspired by? What is the theme of the work? Has the artist had any exhibitions? What is the purpose of their artwork? INTENTIONS: Describe what elements you like What elements/media/ideas do you want to develop within your work

Analyse the artwork Techniques/inspiration General Information: Artist name: Insert artist image
