APPLIED LINGUISTICS

Course Outline Objectives The course is designed to provide the students the basic concepts of applied linguistics and to enlarge students’ knowledge on the field of linguistics after having dealt with theoretical linguistics as well as to equip students with pertinent information about applied linguistics definitions, origins, foundations and scope

Course Outline Material This course covers materials in terms of the knowledge and the concepts of applied linguistics Activities presentation, discussion, quizzes, assigments

Rules Lateness tolerance is 15 minutes, if you join later than 15 minutes you can join the class but cannot sign the attendance list. If I could not attend the meeting I will tell you beforehand. Minimum attendance is 75% of all meetings. Being absent more than 4 times without any clear reasons will cause you withdrawal from the course. Always be polite both in speaking and dressing Please do not eat and/or sleep during the meeting.

Rules For presenters: Paper must be submitted one week after presentation, do paraphrasing and not just copy & paste. References must be listed. Be on time submitting your assignments. Everyone must be prepared and read the material before the class begins. Every student must be active during the presentation and discussion activity.

Slides guides: only consist of points -- not a long explanation use as many references as possible (put it in your slides) ± 30 min presentation create an active and lively discussion with the participants bring along some issues you found regarding the topic
