On Becoming
an Author

People often use
the words author
and writer as if
they are the same
thing but these
two are both
quite different.

A writer is a
someone whom
writes articles,
books, or any
kind of literary
piece.

Where an author
is the person who
comes up with
the plot, idea, or
the content of the
work being
written.

Although
sometimes, the
author and writer
can be the same
person.

In an
autobiography,
someone writes
about their own
life. So the author
is writing his
own thoughts
and ideas.

But in a
biography, the
writer is not the
author. The ideas
or thoughts
someone else are
the ones being
being written.

If you are writing
a novel or story
based on a plot
made by you,
you are known as
the author of it.

If you are
writing
someone else’s
ideas, you will
be known as
the writer of
the work.

Being a writer
is considered
easier than
being an
author.

This is because
an author has to
create and
develop an idea,
while a writer’s
job is simply to
write someone
else’s idea.

An author
must have
exceptional
plots and
writing skills
in order to
dominant
their field.

Writing skills
include the
command over
language and
expressiveness
with a good
play of words.

These skills can
be learned
through
constant
writing. Some,
on the other
hand, are born
with this talent.

Only a skilled
writer can
portray ideas,
events, and
pictures through
mere words.

When writing
books, a person
becomes an
author only if
the book is
published.

If your work is
unpublished,
and even if the
idea is yours,
you will still be
considered as
just the writer.

Yet when your
work is
published you
will be known
as the author
of the work.

So even if
you've written
100 books, but
never gotten
any of them
published, you
will remain
just a writer.

An author can
get the work
copyrighted
under the
copyright
laws.

This makes
sure that
nobody can
steal or use
the original
idea.

The author
will always be
associated
with that
particular
work.

To be a good
author you
must have the
capability to
express
thoughts.

And a good
writer has to
know how to
understand an
idea and
present it in the
correct way.

In summary…

To be an
author, the
idea must be
your own and
you must get
the work
published.

An author
must have
specific skills.
But a writer’s
skill is suited
to the job
required.

You become an
author when
your work is
published.
But if you never
published, you
will remain a
writer.

An author can
get their work
copyrighted.

Whether you
want to call
yourself an
author or a
writer, we can
get you
published.
