ARTHROPATHIES

An  arthropathy  is a disease of a  joint Arthritis  is a form of arthropathy that involves inflammation of one or more joints ,  while the term arthropathy may be used regardless of whether there is inflammation or not . Spondylarthropathy  is any form of arthropathy of the vertebral column. INTRODUCTION

Arthropathy may also include joint conditions caused by physical trauma to joints, but is traditionally used to describe the following conditions : Reactive arthropathy is caused by an  infection . Enteropathic arthropathy is caused by colitis and related conditions. Crystal arthropathy

This involves arthropathies due to microbiological agents. Distinction is made between the following types of etiological relationship: a) direct infection of joint, where organisms invade synovial tissue and microbial antigen is present in the joint; b) indirect infection

Pyogenic arthritis also known as infectious arthritis or joint infection,is the purulent invasion of a joint by an infectious  agent which produces arthritis. DEFINITIONS

Polyarthritis  is any type of arthritis that involves 5 or more joints simultaneously. It is usually associated with autoimmune conditions and may be experienced at any age and is not sex specific.

Reiter’s disease  is a form of inflammatory arthritis  that develops in response to an infection in another part of the body (cross-reactivity). Coming into contact with bacteria and developing an infection can trigger the disease . Also known as Reactive arthritis
