Place and manner of articulation PLACE OF ARTICULATION OF CONSONANT: R efers to the place of the constriction MANNER OF CONSONANT: R efers to the degree or type of closure . 6 5/11/2018 Misbah Qadeer

Vowel quadrangle Front vowel : Back vowel: Central vowel : Tense and lax : degree of muscular activity involved in articulation Open and close: relative closeness of the tongue to the roof of the mouth 7 5/11/2018 Misbah Qadeer
