SUBJECT of the SENTENCE – the one being talked about in the sentence; the one who does the action; the one being described in the sentence Example: Maria goes to school. (Maria – noun, the one who does the action) She always participates in class. (SHE – pronoun, the one who does the action) The poor need our help. (POOR – is an adjective, but in this sentence, it is used as noun)

PREDICATE of the SENTENCE – part of the sentence that tells what the subject does or what happens to the subject. It includes the VERB and any other words that complete the meaning of the verb, such as objects, complements, or modifiers. Example: Maria goes to school. (Verb – goes, tells what action the subject is doing) (Adverb – to school [place])
