a. How the World Wide Web works.... The World Wide Web is an organisation in
which web resources and other documents are identified by URLs as well as
interlinked by hypertext documents and can be amassed over the internet.
The World Wide Web works through the http protocol and the servers connected to
the web attend requests through the internet. The URL consists of protocol in which
the server retrieves the indicated document and creates a response which is sent back
to the user.
b. The purpose of ISPs.... An ISP (internet service provider) is an institution and its
purpose is to provide assistance to individuals and groups that are accessing the
internet. The more popular and bigger ISPs such as BT are less dependent on
telecommunication providers as they have their own high speed connection and
therefore are able to provide better assistance to their users.
c. The web hosting services that ISPs provide for business.... A web hosting service
allows individuals and companies to make their website available via the World

House and State Committee Texas is one of the states forming United States of
America and it is one of the largest state in terms of its population and the total
geographical area. The local government has been divided into county government,
municipal government and special districts. Texas has been divided into house
districts and senate districts. The house of representatives and the house of senate
plays a crucial role in deliberating on issues specific to a given department.

The committee try to formulate policies that are pragmatic in nature so as to address
the challenges faced by local producers and consumers. The primary function of this
committee is to check, clarify and approve the fiscal budget to ensure that
infrastructural facilities are in place. I am from senate district 16 and there are lot of
problems regarding transportation in my district. I would work on the field to
promote public transportation and make it easily available to public so that they won

Education committee The educational committee deals with policies that are
touching on the overall educational syllabus. School funding programs are also
deliberated under these senate committee. Sound educational policies in Texas means
that the state will be in a position to strengthen its educational system and create a
system that is favorable now and for the future generations. The review of the
educational syllabus is also within the scope of the educational committee in the
Texas state. This legislative wing of the Texas state is primarily constituted to deal
with all the matters facing the educational sector and to developed policies that will
be geared to improving the educational standards.
My placement in these committees is justified because I have a wide knowledge base

Cover Letter and Resume Analysis
Cover Letter and Resume Analysis Paper
My analysis paper will cover all of the changes and how I have made my cover letter
and resume improve in the past two weeks.
Cover Letter
My cover letter started off a little rocky at first. I was new to the whole cover letter
so I reviewed a few different cover letters until I got the idea. After I got my draft
back with the comments to improve my cover letter I knew I had a lot of work to do.
The first change I started to work on was my skills mentioned in my second
paragraph. I had many of my skills listed but none of them showed how this related to
the job I was applying for. Once I decided on the new skills I was going to use I had

As you can see I had many improvements to make to my cover letter and resume.
Starting from adding examples into my cover letter to show the company how I
have applied my skills in many different ways to adding transitions into my paper
to make it flow better then to making my resume more visually appealing. My
cover letter and resume has come a long way in the past week and a half and I have
learned so much in each step of the way in this process to making them both great.

Tsar Nicolas II And The Causes Of The Russian Revolution
The Russian Revolution of 1917 was the outcome of discontent amongst the peasants
for over centuries under the Tsarist autocracy. However, the desperate need to
dismantle and revolt against the regime sparked within them during the reign of Tsar
Nicolas II, who proved to be an incompetent autocrat. The Tsar s reliance on his weak
and indecisive character throughout handling the matters of his empire expanded
upon numerous long term causes of the Russian Revolution. Economic causes
included the industrialization of Russia, which resulted in proletariats protesting for
better working conditions and wages. As for social causes, they included the
sufferings of poverty stricken peasants due to prevalent classism, as well as the Tsar s
inadequate... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The population of Russia was 128 million in the 1900 s, and it included 200 different
national minorities who spoke different languages and practiced different religions.
Although any leader would find ruling a country with such a huge and diverse
population a difficult task, it was Tsar Nicolas the II s inadequate attempt to unify his
country that caused these national minorities to oppose him as a ruler. He continued
with and expanded upon Tsar Alexander III s policy of Russification , which forced
non Russians to adopt the Russian language, as well as Russian clothes and customs,
whilst abandoning their own. This form of cultural assimilation and erasure angered
the many national minorities. They were unhappy with the Tsar s unfair treatment
when it came to social, economic and political issues. Consequently, many subversive
groups were formed with the aim of spreading anti Russian propaganda. Some non
Russians joined the Social Democratic and the Social Revolutionary Parties.
Therefore, it was evident that the Tsar s failed attempt to unify his country caused
non Russians to be dissatisfied by him, hence why they supported the

Personal Reflection Of Newspapers
I worked for 14 years at Random Lengths Publications and for eight years combined
at three community newspapers (The Siuslaw News, Central Oregonian, and
Springfield News). All four offices had fewer than 20 people on hand, and we were
all often called upon to fill in for others when they were overwhelmed or on a
break, or when they were sick or vacationing. At the newspapers in particular, I
frequently worked late hours and often was the only one in the office to field
phone calls. Further, I was the face of the company when I was working in the
field, easily recognized with camera and notebook in hand. Readers approached me
not only about the event at hand, but issues pertaining to my other duties or even
the issues of co workers. Whether in person or on the phone, I always listened to
reader concerns, and I assured readers that I or someone else on the staff would
address those concerns in a timely manner. For example, when callers hadn t received
their newspaperand the circulation personnel had already left for the day, I would
deliver papers myself. With Random Lengths I e mailed issues of missed newsletters
and reported the situation to the circulation department for follow up.
A publications office environment is always fast paced with multiple ongoing
projects. Callers and visitors had story suggestions, complaints, or other reasons to
command my attention while I commonly was attending to other constituents or my
projects on deadline. I have fielded and routed

Short Story Breakfast At Mcdonalds
After I felt the warmth of human love by reading the wonderful story of Breakfast
At McDonalds, I can relate this story because my husband always helps others. He
is the most generous and bravest man I have ever known. Actually, because he
always helps others and that is who he is, we met in San Jose in 1997: he offered me
his help when I was lost in San Josewhile my vacation in America. He offers his
generosity and grace in many occasions, and his grace makes me proud to be his
wife. Once was in Santa Cruz, Boardwalk. He spotted a group of the boys (about
ages of 12 14) were buying meals at a burger shop. One of the boys was just
standing and was not purchasing any meal. Suddenly, my husband walked up to the
boy and gave him $10.00 and told him... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He does not spend money for himself but is very generous to others. One more
incident that I have never forgotten, we were on the road north from Sacramento,
suddenly a vehicle crashed into an island of the roared right after the car passed
us. My husband just stopped our car on the side of the road and then was running
and calling 911 at the same time. He dragged out a woman, who was driving, from
the car and rescued her because her car was smoking. Everything happened within
a couple minutes in front of my eyes. Sometime I believe that he has a purpose in
saving others because he saves people all the time. My husband says that some
reason things happen in front of his eyes. I believe my husband is my salvation
because he saved me from my life which was not ideal situation, and he gave me
peace and security in my life. I am not just talking about he helped me when I was
lost). He has purposed to give grace to people and save others. My husband have
never hesitated to save someone and does the right thing because he is a man who
believes the God. My husband s name is Joseph and my name is Emi (it is the
original Japanese name and my name means, my mother, in Aramaic the Jesus

Philip Larkin s Faith Healing Essay
How typical in terms of subject, theme, structure and versification is Faith Healing
by Larkin? Philip Larkin s Faith Healing In 1964, Philip Larkin published his third
book of poetry, entitled The Whitsun Weddings . One of the many critically
acclaimed poems was Faith Healing . In this essay, I intend to explore how typical
this poem is in terms of subject, theme, structure and versification. In Faith Healing,
women flock to an American Faith Healer for a blessing. The persona of the poem
is written from an outsider s point of view, looking in at this sight. Faith Healing is
divided into three stanzas, each of ten lines. Iambic pentameter is used to give 5
major stresses to each of the 10 lines. The three stanzas... Show more content on

By now, all s wrong . It is interesting to note that with all 3 of these poems, Larkin
adopts a personal persona. He is omniscient; in Mr Bleaney, it is as though he is a
man looking for accommodation; in Here, it is as though he is the one on a
journey and in Faith Healing, he is present, observing this spectacle. Therefore, I
feel that Mr Bleaney and Here are closely linked to Faith Healing in terms of
structure and versification. Faith Healing is an ambiguous poem that seems
critical of religion. At the start of the poem, many flock to the Faith Healer but by
the third stanza, the 20 seconds with the American seem to have ruined their lives.
They have had their true feelings and emotions unlocked and have realised that
they have never really been loved. An immense slackening ache. Spreads slowly
through them . The Faith Healer thaws these emotions and we see the women
suffer a sense of real loneliness and depression as this reality dawns. This strongly
correlates with the theme in Mr Bleaney, a poem exploring loneliness and the fear
in which it evokes. In the poem, we are told of Mr Bleaney s old room that is
cheap and not cared for. The persona explores Bleaney s life. Ironically, he finds he
can identify with him in some respects. So it happens

What I Learned in the Eighth Grade Essay
Throughout my academic life, I have learned many essential lessons from being
organized, to treating others with respect. However, my 2013 eighth grade school
year has taught me the most important lesson of all, team work. Team work is the
ability to get along with others, and it s the central piece of being respectful to your
peers and doing your part! As my eighth grade year began, my teachers have taught
me that getting along well with others is a splendid way to gain great success. They
also mentioned, In order to get to the top, you must know someone to lead you there!
This memorable life changing quote made me think about how important teamworkis
because without the method or ability to get along with others, you may... Show more

This is a question I tend to wonder about when I m stuck in a situation, and it seems
to shift me in the right direction. Equally important, teamwork has taught me how
to be a successful leader. Through team work I learned that some people are
leaders, and others are followers, and that is okay! It taught me that I work well as
a leader, and am good at giving people tasks. Working with other people can be
difficult, but I learned how to overcome those obstacles and be a more exemplary
person. Also I learned, through school, that by leading a team, I am working and
motivating my group. To illustrate, a precocious girl is put with a group of her peers
to finish a project. The girls group was extremely unmotivated and did not want to
work on the project. The girl took it upon herself to give everyone an individual
job, and inspired them to work. This is a prime example to show how teamwork
and work to create a successful leader. Lastly, teamwork through sportsmanship has
taught me to put in extra effort to get the results I want. Elbert Hubbard once stated
A little more persistence, a little more effort, and what seemed hopeless failure may
turn to glorious success. I ve learned that in order to have a strong team, you need to
put superfluous work. You cannot expect to get a maximum amount of results with a
minimum amount of endeavor. Working with a team of people

Overeater Anonymous Meeting Analysis
Overeater Anonymous (OA) is a support group for individuals who have problems
related to food such as compulsive overeater, binge eating disorder, bulimics and
anorexics. The meeting was located at the Church of Saint Mary the Virgin at 133
West 46th Street, NYC on Friday at 6pm. The meetings are open to anyone who
wants to obtain more information about the OA support group and/or ways to deal
with overeating. The meeting was more lecture based as it attempts to teach the
individuals ways to deal with their compulsive disorder. The OA meeting is a non
profit support group collecting any contributions that that the group can make to fund
its meetings. Furthermore, the main focal of the meeting was based on the twelve
steps, which are a series of steps to overcome the problem and is often associated with
Alcoholic Anonymous. The purpose of this meeting was focus on Resentment, the
4th step of the twelve steps. In this step, we are analysis our life and summarizing the
thought, events, emotions and action that cause resentment. We must analysis ones
weakness, which might make it uncomfortable and little hard to complete. This
allows ones to view ones behavior and figure out ways to change the behavior that is

Executive Summary
There are a number of challenges faced by organizations wishing to conduct business
with other firms in a foreign country. The reason behind this is that the organization
will be required to engage either in the importation or exportation of goods or
services. The Emirates Motor Company has for many years engaged in the
importation of Mercedes Benz from Germany into the UAE. One of the major
challenges that the organization has suffered is lack of sufficient funding. As such,

The company is considered to be one of German s big 3 manufactures of luxury
automobiles along with BMW and Audi. The three manufacturers currently
dominate the world market for luxury cars. Over the past years, Mercedes Benz
has been seen to engage in activities aimed at increasing its global presence. The
company has been seen to open franchises in Asia, Europe, and the Middle East in
order to take advantage of the rapid economic growth in the regions. The company
has also been seen to keenly monitor its African market. It has opened a franchise in
Egypt to help it conduct business with Africa more efficiently and effectively. In
2014 alone, Mercedes Benz sold 2.5 million cars.
Besides the manufacture of automobiles, the company also offers financial services.
It performs this role through the help of Daimler Financial Services AG. The arm of
the organization has aided the company to further penetrate the Middle East market.
In 2009, Mercedes Benz announced the official opening of Mercedes Benz Leasing
Middle East and Mercedes Benz Finance Middle East. The two new companies
owned by Mercedes Benz had their headquarters established at Dubai, one of the
regions making up the United Arab Emirates (UAE) (Coughlin amp; Ambrosio,
2012). They were established with the aim of providing lease and loan services to
private and business customers who wish to purchase pre owned and new

How Does Mary Oliver Use Of Allusion And Figurative...
Owls Mary Oliver Rhetorical Analysis Essay In this short excerpt from Mary
Oliver s Owls , the author carefully uses various rhetorical strategies to support
comparisons in the beauty of nature. Oliver s use of allusion and figurative
language both contribute to the powerful comparisons of nature she makes. In this
passage, the main example Oliver uses is comparing a great horned owl and a snow
owl to a field of flowers, describing the owls with a striking and powerful presence
and the field of flowers with an excessive beauty. Oliver successfully contrasts the
two with great imagery and creates a balance of simple happiness and fear and awe.
The author provides examples of contrast between a great horned owl, a snowy owl

Film Analysis on 2009 s Precious
Analyzing a dynamic film like the 2009 Precious is difficult. The movie got a lot of
praise for the acting and the story that was portrayed but it also got a lot of heat from
the race that was portrayed in the movie. African Americans nationwide said the
movie made their African American ghettos into a sexually incest ridden, classless
society and didn t properly show any of the positive attributes that come from the
African American ghettos. In our course of Intra cultural communication we have
studied through different topics, ones that I think are shown in the movie are culture,
race, class, and sexuality. I am going to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other reviews of the movie put the article in a positive light Latoya Peterson, the
editor of Racialicious.com, a blog about the intersection of race and popular
culture, said opposing views of the film are off base. Those reviews buy into the
narrative that there can only be one acceptable presentation of black life, Ms.
Peterson said. They re flattening the black experience, and in that way, he denies
our humanity. Ms. Peterson, who lives in the Washington area, said that she
believed that Precious effectively tackled many issues affecting young girls:
sexual abuse, poverty, violence and failing schools. Sexuality in the movie
precious was one of the subjects I found the most disturbing. Sexuality is defined
as sexual character; possession of the structural and functional traits of sex,
recognition of or emphasis upon sexual matters; involvement in sexual activity; an
organism s preparedness for engaging in sexual activity. There a number of ways in
which sexual lines are crossed in the film. Clareece is raped by her father and
eluded her mother as well. Her two children are the product of her father s rape,
and her sexual say in anything is taken away. She is doing these things for her
parents and telling no one. She is being raped and taken advantage of by both of her
parents and the actress tells no one of this. This portrayal is extreme, I am sure
situations arise in this case but seeing the movie and watching the aspects of

Why Is It Important To Identify And Teach Directly...
1.We are often defined by both our good and bad behaviors. This being said, the
undesirable behaviors tend to leave a greater lasting impact than the desirable
behaviors do. For this reason, teachers need to place a special focus on teaching
students the appropriate behavioral skills whenever opportunities arise.
2.Behavior is teachable content, just like the other subjects in school. Because
behaviors are often learned, teachers need to make sure they are clearly explaining
the expectations and giving the appropriate support.
3.To establish successful positive behavior support plans within school systems, it is
important to concisely identify the set of behavior expectations, pinpoint and teach
directly observable student outcomes, develop ... Show more content on

Teachers are often expected to help investigate and document student behaviors.
Observations, interviews, and behavior rating scales are all ways in which direct
information can be obtained.
7.In order to accurately see and understand what is going on, it is always a good idea
to collect multiple sources of data across a variety of settings.
8.An anecdotal observation is an informal observation technique in which someone
collects information by simply observing what is going on and keeping a running
record of all of the events that occur in the classroom during a specific time period.
This technique definitely comes with limitations, but it is often a good starting point.
9.Discipline can get a little tricky, especially when considering students with
disabilities. If the problem behavior is connected to the student s disability, a BIP
should be created and implemented. If the problem behavior isn t associated with the
student s disability, the normal disciplinary measures (those in which students
without disabilities experience) must be taken.
10.When disciplinary removal (suspension, expulsion, etc.) is considered, students
with special needs are treated differently than their normal abled peers. Removal
would be a change in placement, and this goes against the guidelines of federal

Gender In Second World War
This book collects fifteen articles to integrate gender into the politics, military,
economy, culture, and social values in the first half of the 20th century in Germany,
where home and front were separated by a porous line. The articles focus on the
creation of gender notion in three phases of wars. Firstly, they study the building of
genderimages and relations in the military and the civilian society in the context of
WWI and WWII. Secondly, they investigate the approaches to restore or to
reconstruct the concept of gender after both world wars by reflecting upon men s
and women s respective roles during the war. Moreover, the book probes the
multivalent ways of remembering the two violent conflicts after decades from gender
specific perspectives... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The article analyzes how French and German created a gendered image of the
French colonial troops and the women in contact with them on the battlefields and
the occupied zone in post WWI Germany. Citing the articles, propaganda, and
speeches created by political, military, and culture elites. In Germany, the colonial
soldiers were described as bloodthirsty, uncivilized and uncivilizable barbarians
(150). French women were licentious while their German counterparts posed as
victims of the sex violence of the colonial troops (150). In French discourse, the
image of women in these two countries is directly opposite to the image in German
propaganda, while the colonial soldiers were also presented as bloodthirsty in the
prewar period but transformed to noble savage after the war (150). Koller asserts that
sexism in WWI was frequently aligned with European racism and nationalism

The Occupational Safety And Health Administration
Introduction
Violence in the workplace has been an increasing problem for many years, but it is
hitting the healthcare profession hardest.(1) Nearly 24,000 assaults in the work
environment occur every year, with nearly 75% occuring to healthcare
providers.(2) In 2001, it was reported that physicians were assaulted at a rate of 16.2
assaults per 1,000 physicans, nurses were assualted at a rate of 21.9 assaults per
1,000 nurses, and other healthcare workers (with varying job titles) were assaulted at
a rate of 8.5 assaults per 1,000 employees.(3) In 2004, it was documented that as
many as 14% of doctors and 40% of nurses in a UK survey reported being assaulted
in the year prior. (4)
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has defined
workplace violence as violence or the threat of violence against workers. It can
occur at or outside the workplace and can range from threats and verbal abuse to
physical assaults and homicide. (5) The US Bureau of Justice defines workplace
violence as nonfatal violence (rape/sexual assualt, robbery, and aggravated and simple
assault) against employed persons age 16 or older that occurred while they were at
work or on duty. (1) Previous research on the topic of workplace violence in

principal. As such interest is no longer anticipated (Van Greuning, Bratavonic, 2003).
There is no global standard to define non performing loans at the practical level.
Variations exist in terms of the classification system, the scope, and contents. This

subject. For instance, as described by Park (2003), during the 1990s,

Florida Recruiting: Inaugural Early Signing Day Preview
Tomorrow marks the first early signing period for college football recruits. Prospects
from around the country will be shutting down their recruitment processes, signing,
and early enrolling to their program of choice.
Dan Mullen was introduced as the 27th head coach in Florida Gators history just three
weeks prior to the inaugural signing period.
Despite seven de commitments from the Gators 2018 recruiting class since the arrival
of Mullen, this staff have put themselves in a position to close out the early signing
period with a profusion of momentum.

The opportunity of playing time awaits Jones in Gainesville and many believe he will

Prediction: Florida
DB Trey Dean (Hampton, Ga.) Dean is another big time prospect that seems to be
eyeing the Gators more than other programs.
Dean de committed from the Tennessee Volunteers two weeks ago, and ever since,
the Gators have made a pursuit at landing the nations 22nd ranked safety.
Dean (6 foot 2, 180 pounds) is a long, athletic defensive back that possesses
tremendous football IQ. His length at defensive back benefits him in jump ball
situations, allowing him to make a play on the ball at its highest point.
Following an official visit to the Gators this past weekend, I expect Florida to seal
the deal with Dean. Florida also recently hired the Volunteers defensive back coach
from a season ago (Dean s former coach he committed to), making the pitch to Dean
much easier.
Dean would be the fourth safety prospect to sign for the Gators on Wednesday. The
staff made this unit a priority on the trail and it will pay off during the inaugural early

Witch Wolf Research Paper
The witch wolf is a dangerous species and is very unique. It almost looks the same as
a normal wolf, there is only some changes. Some differences from a normal wolf is
how it catches prey, how it acts, where it lives, or what kind of powers it has. The
witch wolf has grey fur and amber eyes. But, while they are on the prowl, all of
their hair stands on end and their eyes turn black. A adult witch wolf is about 5.1
feet to 7.3 feet in length, which is larger than a normal wolf by a couple feet. These
special types of wolves live in packs. Next, they have special powers because they are
part witch. They can lure prey away from safety with spells, and they can go
invisible for very short periods of time. When these packs find prey they strike

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Small Scale Industries

inevitable impediments. This report is about such an industry which runs in my area,

Literary Devices In Young Goodman Brown
Young Goodman Brown by Nathaniel Hawthorne is a complex tale with many
hidden meanings and themes. Hawthorne uses literary devices to propel his story
further into speculation of the unknown world. In his essay, Fogle uses examples of
irony and symbols of opposites to convey the mystery behind Hawthorne s Young
Goodman Brown. Without both ambiguity and clarity, the story would not portray an
atmosphere of doubt which is at the core of Hawthorne s tale.
Fogle claims that Hawthorne uses the image of Faith s ribbon to propel Goodman
into fully accepting sin. Fogle claims that casting aside all further scruples, he
rages through the wild forest to the meeting of witches, for the time at least fully
accepting the domination of Evil (451). After seeing his wife s ribbon Goodman is
distraught, thus pushing him to chase after the ribbon in hopes of finding Faith.
The ribbon is a symbol of ambiguity because it is a real object that after propelling
Goodman to accept a life of sin vanishes, further questioning the reality of the
situation. Fogle further argues that ribbons portray a heavenly aspect and put an
emphasis on Faith s pureness, these ribbons, as we have seen, are an important
factor in the plot; and as an emblem of heavenly Faith their color gradually deepens
into the liquid flame or blood of the baptism in to sin (456). The ribbons represent
Goodman s fall into evil that eventually causes his family to live a life of misery.
Furthermore, Fogle claims that

Literary Analysis Of Amores Perros
Come to Clarity
Typically, photographs are considered nothing more than tangible items that invoke
nostalgia. Having a character ponder over a photo typically gives the image no more
value than a McGuffin. Alejandro GonzГ Ўlez IГ±Г Ўrritu s Amores Perros (2000) on
the other hand, asks the viewer to re evaluate the concept of the photograph both
literally and figuratively throughout the film. The meaning of a photograph can be
considered the glue on this story; the symbol is dynamic enough to provide each
character with a moment of reflection, and the audience a window into the
subjective perspective at the peak of a character s diegesis. Using the photograph
loosely in this fashion allows it to be one of the key elements to tie together three
radically different stories, despite the symbol s lack of dedicated screen time.
Before diving into each individual character s world, it helps to look at the
background of the new, circa 2000, director Alejandro IГ±Г Ўrritu. Alejandro started
his career with a passion for music working with radio; that original passion is visible
throughout Amores Perros as sound is used to articulate the set space and time. Sound
mimics patterns found throughout the story and Alejandro frequently positions it to
juxtaposition the narrative. With that being in mind there are few scenes where we
are met with no background noise, and no dialogue. Looking at these we can see
Alejandro graces the film with three powerful character defining images, each

Analysis Of The Poem Little Red Cap Essay

TOPIC: To what extent does Carol Ann Duffy present a feminist perspective in the
poem Little Red Cap .
The history of women has been a history of silence. (Hillary Clinton, 1995, Beijing)
This powerful statement from Hillary Clinton underpins the injustices of female
representation in the past. This silence is evident in the Bible verse, Let your women
keep silent in the churches, (I Corinthians 14: 34 37) and Virginia Woolf s concept
that Anon ... was often a woman [who could not otherwise get the respect of male
counterparts]. (Virginia Woolf, 1928, A Room of One s Own. PAGE). These are
only two examples of how females have been largely disempowered by the male
constraints of literature. In recent history feminists have deemed it necessary to
research the lost and forgotten females and retell history from a distinctly female
perspective. This issue is of significant concern to Carol Ann Duffy, the current Poet
Laureate. Duffy subverts fairytales, myths and historical stories to empower women,
giving them a voice and allowing their stories to be heard. This essay will argue that
Carol Ann Duffy presents a feminist perspective in the poem Little Red Cap .
The Poem Little Red Cap is based on the storyline of Little Red Riding Hood ,

Apple Inc, By Steve Wozniak And Ronald Wayne
Apple Not the Fruit
Imagine a world without Apple, without iPods, without Macs; in the world we live
in today that seems almost impossible, but Apple did not get to where it stands today
overnight, the company has had its share of troubles. Apple Computers was founded
in 1976 by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne; together they donned the
generation of affordable personal computers and was the first step in the advancement
of the major corporation known today as Apple Inc. Apple Inc. has become a major
competitor in sales despite being close to bankrupt many times because of their
technological advancement, knowledge of the consumer, and the development of a
strong user interface. Throughout the course of Apple s struggle the corporation has
remained persistent in the advancement of technology as we know it today.
It all started with a dream, to make a computer more personal, one computer for
every one person; and in this area Steve Jobs strived to be the best. He called on
Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne to start this venture into the vast world of
computer sales; with Jobs vast knowledge of physics they made the first Apple
Computer model, and the company was set off to a good start. Within the first 3
months of Apples beginning Wayne decided to sell his share of the company and
becoming the forgotten founder of Apple Computers. That left Jobs and Wozniak to
take on the challenge of advancing technology by themselves(Linzmayer 3,4). Jobs

Compare And Contrast Atheism And Colombia
Three words that describe my culture are atheism, male, and colombian. To expand
on my statement I would like to begin with the first word which is atheism, which
is the disbelief or rather lack of belief in a god or gods. I do not believe on a god
because I think there is a lack of evidence and I am also very skeptical about
various things until proven wrong. In addition, the next word that I mentioned
was male; I identify myself as a male because that is my gender. Considering I was
born as male and do not plan to change this feature I chose it as it does define me in
a sense. At last, I chose the word Colombian because I was born in Colombia and
spent the biggest part of my life there. However, after taking some time to determine
just how much the country changed me I decided to mention the fact that I am such

If this bill passes the AOA must award grants for adult day programs that serve
younger people with neurological conditions. An adult day program is defined as a
program that provides comprehensive care and support services to individuals with
neurological conditions and to their family caregivers and that may assist
participants in ways that: maintain or improve their functional abilities or otherwise
help them adjust to their changing functional abilities; prevent the onset of
complications associated with severe forms of the condition; promote alternatives
to placement in nursing homes; reduce the strain on family caregivers of
individuals with neurological conditions; focus on supporting the emotional, social,
and intellectual needs of a younger adult population; or address the needs of
veterans with neurological conditions. This bill requires the Administration on
Aging (AOA) to initiate a comprehensive survey of current adult day programs that
provide care and support to individuals with neurological diseases or conditions
such as multiple sclerosis, Parkinson s disease, or traumatic brain injury. The AOA
must identify ongoing successful adult day programs and which of these serve
young adults with neurological conditions and develop best practices to guide the
establishment of additional successful adult day programs. If the bill were to be

The Differences Between Three Kings And Apocalypse Now
One would think that all combat war movies were alike, but after watching two
very different movies about the same subject, my previous assumptions were
challenged. In recreating the chaotic world of combat war both Three Kings
(Russell, 1999) and Apocalypse Now (Coppola, 1979) chose different styles of
visual elements to convey and depict what war looks like. Despite bearing some
minor similarities, the differences between Three Kings and Apocalypse Noware
striking when it comes to cinematography.
Three Kings starts out with an American soldier, Troy Barlow (played by Mark
Wahlberg) yelling out to a buddy in the distance, Are we shooting? , while he is
standing on a flat, colorless Iraqi desert scattered with mounds. The desert is
washed out and almost everything has been drained of color except for the sky.
Far away in the distance, on top of one of these mounds an Iraqi waves his rifle and
some sort of fabric. It is unclear what the Iraqi is trying to say, is he appealing to
the soldier? Is he taunting him? Maybe he is about to open fire or surrender. The
Iraqi s desperate gestures are too foreign, as the soldier calls out again, Are we still
shooting people or what? This is all hard to tell from the bright glaring light that is
being emitted from the snowy desert.
The opening shot for Apocalypse Now is very different from the opening shot of
Three Kings. The first thing we experience is a black screen with the sound of a
helicopter. The first image we are shown

Clay Behavior And Its Effects On The United States
Throughout the past few decades, clay behavior has drawn significant attention
from geotechnical engineers due to its contribution in structural damages [1]. The
sensitivity of clay to climate changes and its corresponding collapse and swelling
due to water content changes is the main reason for the resultant damages. Since
1950s, various ways have been introduced for reducing destructive effect of
expansive clays. (These methods are usually based on trial error, from using
mechanical stabilization like compaction [2] or prewatering (mostly in 1970s) to
altering the physicochemical properties of the soil like addition of chemical agents
or process of ion changing [3, 4].
In the following decades lime and cement injections were the most widely used
methods for stabilization of clay. However, hydration starts while water and cement
are mixed But when water reaches cement, hydration happens and hydrated calcium
silicates (CSH), aluminates (CHA) and lime (Ca(OH)2) would be generated which
would and cause a rise in pore water pH. In 1971, [5] found the reactivity of clay
minerals with acids and alkalines and afterward the usability of other chemicals other
than lime and cement was investigated. Also, for reducing the stabilization costs,
replacing cement with low cost waste materials has been studied. Moreover, the effect
of portland cement manufacturing on amount of greenhouse released in the
atmosphere and consequently, global warming has been another reason for finding a

Most people who attend Cerritos College may be unfamiliar with the services that are

Essay on History and Mechanics of Viking Warfare
Vikings Reign In the earliest years of the Vikings, there was little history recorded
due to the polytheistic views that they followed. After the Vikings converted to
Christianity, there were eventually written documents created pertaining to their
existence. In Viking Warfare, I.P. Stephenson states that the Vikings first described
attack took place in AD 789 (11). The Vikings were also known as Norsemen. They
were great storytellers, and that is perhaps how society knows so much about them
today. The stories that the Norsemen told were called Sagas. Today, Vikings are
often depicted as murderous savages, but while they were not pillaging villages they
were actually quite a peaceful civilization. There were three countries that Vikings...

Wooden shields could endure battles, while also not wearing out the warrior from
its weight. Most of the shields only lasted one battle and were painted with various
colors depending on what village the Vikings were fighting for. The Vikings wore
helmets without horns on them, although that is how they have been depicted in
today s history. Typically the Vikings helmets were made out of iron with a nose
guard descending down from the top of the helmet for facial protection. The higher
ranked Vikings were commonly the warriors that wore the helmets. Vikings were
buried with their armor and weapons, and there have not been that many helmets
found with their remains. Although there has been some helmets found, it was not
that common for the warriors to wear them on account of how it could become a
nuisance while in battle. In Norse Warfare, Martina Sprague states, when deciding
to wear armor, the Viking warrior had to consider his maneuverability on the
battlefield and the weight of the protective gear (159). It was not that common for
chain mail to be worn by the Viking warriors. This type of armor was a sign of
social status, but many warriors chose not to wear it because it was uncomfortable
and heavy. The Vikings also wore leather layers of clothing serving as their main form
of body armor. Wearing leather under chain mail was optional but not necessary.
Although armor was important it was not the Vikings main concern when it came to

The Role of Money in Society Depicted in Robert Louis...
The love of money is the root of all evil, a statement that has proved itself true
through the centuries. Loving money traps us, as human beings. It is not a bad
thing to enjoy what money can do; however, the love of money is a wasted effort
that can put all in grave peril. It is at our advantage that we have the ability to choose
whether we want to fall into that trap. Unfortunately, that choice is difficult since
society associates one s character with wealth and financial management. The
mishaps, deaths, and hardships that occur from the beginning of the tale are the
result of deliberate deception for personal gain. In Treasure Island, greed sends the
characters on a voyage. Robert Louis Stevenson makes a social commentary on...

The Squire s poor judgment is based on Silver s ability to count. At each stratum of
society, there is the misconception of correlating money and character. Jim s mother
risked her life and that of her only son to get her dues. [I] m an honest woman, she
proclaims and intends to prove this proclamation by taking only what is owed
(Stevenson 17). It is astonishing how her perception of value is skewed. She sits
counting money in the face of imminent danger. She values money over the safety
of herself and her son. It is when danger is at the door that Jim is able to pull her
back from the brink of death and disaster. According to Stevenson, society values
success. Silver embodies that success. He owns a well managed bar that is freshly
painted and cleanly swept which gives the impression of a respectable
establishment. Silver is cordial, solicitous, and jovial in tone. Jim did not
recognize Silver as a buccaneer upon the first encounter because he did not fit the
part. Silver says, never denied myself o nothing heart desires, because he
understood the purpose of money (46); money is a medium used to acquire
necessities and fancies but is of no real value unused. Silver is still ruthless and
cutthroat, but he is successful. Silver has a good bank account and a wife. Money
does not replace companionship and of all the buccaneers, Silver is the only one with
a wife and he even professes that she is trustworthy.

Compare And Contrast Phoenix And Ellensburg
Phoenix, Arizona and Ellensburg, Washington are cities which are more than 1,300
miles from one another. In the United States, distance between a pair of towns does
not automatically mean that drastic differences will exist, but the disparities in this
instance are numerous. The following discussion details critical distinctions amongst
the two. Stereotypical wisecracks of larger metropolitan areas include bumper to
bumper traffic and complications associated with overcrowding. Customarily
following these remarks are threats to head for somewhere quieter and less stressful.

Ellensburg is woefully limited as far as dining and entertainment are concerned. Pub
crawls embark partygoers on a brief journey through roughly eight square blocks of
its pint sized downtown district. Disappointingly, intimate dinners spotlighting
phenomenal dishes scarcely coincide with the good company and engaging
conversation had by playful couples. Although historic local museums and galleries
display fascinating accounts of the past and compelling artistry, families rarely
express enthusiasm for sophisticated recreation. Conversely, Phoenix knows no
bounds in the restaurant and leisure departments. For example, adventurous bar
hoppers drift from upscale speakeasies serving throwback cocktails in a dimly lit
lounge to hipster brewpubs whose menus list craft beer flights from around the
world. Also, Romantic date nights unassumingly commence over cuisine prepared
by world renowned chefs at Zagat rated sushi bistros and James Beard Award
winning pizzerias. Moms and dads devote quality time to the kids at indoor
trampoline arenas for a healthy way to let off some steam; or, celebrate birthdays at
amusement parks with festivities spanning from miniature golf to roller coasters and
arcades. The monotony typically experienced in little towns seldom creates
sentimental recollections worthy of

Regulatory Risks And Regulatory Risk Management
What is regulatory risk and regulatory risk management?
There is no one definitive definition of regulatory risk , but most people have a
good understanding of what this term means. One way of looking at regulatory risk
is that it is the risk of getting negative attention from a regulator or having the licence
to operate withdrawn by a regulator. Clearly, this would adversely impact on the
economic value of any organisation, regardless of size.
Regulatory risk management involves the identification of the different types of
regulatory risk, assessing the impact of these risks, determining the risk appetite of
the organisation, and putting in place risk management procedures and controls.
Why is regulatory risk management important?
Regulatory risk management brings many benefits to an organisation. It goes without
saying that, put very simply, proper and effective regulatory risk management keeps
an organisation out of trouble. This is because it informs the decision makers on how
to operate the business, from managing day to day activities such as processing
routine transactions, to attending to atypical matters such as assisting in a regulator s
investigation. With enhanced decision making and greater operational efficiency,
regulatory risk management can derive a genuine competitive advantage for any
organisation. Excellence in regulatory risk management also differentiates an
organisation can be distinguished from its competitors by the confidence the market
has in

Themes In A Lesson Before Dying
A Lesson Before Dying by Ernest J. Gaines tells the story of how Grant, an
educated black man in Bayonne, helps Jefferson, a black man who is going to be
sentenced to death by electrocution, become a man by his godmother s wish before
he dies so, he can die like a man. In the novel, Gaines introduces characters who
display a changeas the novelgoes on. Many themes are shown throughout the novel.
One theme in A Lesson Before Dying deals with how a certain character s growth
propels another character to change. Gaines displays this theme between Grant and
Jefferson. There are many examples in the novel that support this theme. One
example in A Lesson Before Dying that displays this theme is Grant s attitude and
feelings toward his hometown of Bayonne. In Chapter 4, Grant describes Bayonne to
the reader. He says that in Bayonne there was a Catholic church uptown for whites; a
Catholic church back of town colored (Gaines, 25). From the description of the
churches, it can be interpreted that Bayonne is a town mainly built on racism. One
prominent feature in the town that stands out is the slaughterhouse. Grant describes
it as a slaughterhouse, mostly for hogs (Gaines, 25) which foreshadows Jefferson s
death. Later on in the chapter, Grant is with Vivian, his girlfriend, and he tells her, I
need to go someplace where I can feel living (Gaines, 29). This quote shows that
Grant wants to leave Bayonne and run away from there. This may be because of the
racism and

Why Is Anzac Day Important
Why is the Anzac Centenary important for Modern Australia?
Every year, Anzac Day is celebrated across the nation, unifying Australians
regardless of their background or place of birth to commemorate the service and
sacrifice displayed by the men and women of the Anzac Forces. The 25th of April
2015, will mark the Centenary of the Gallipoli Campaign, and will be one of the most
significant commemorations to take place of its generation. Despite the Campaign
having been deemed a disaster with a large number of casualties along with the
failure to achieve military victory, it has contributed tremendously to the development
of Australia s culture and identity. This Campaign observed the emergence of the
Anzac Legend, encompassing the distinguishing ... Show more content on

During the Victorian Bushfires, for example, many Australian communities were
confronted with tremendous loss and hardship. It was during these times that the
Anzac Spirit was very apparent amongst the community, with the emergence of
everyday Australians surfacing as heroes. Australian volunteers from across
communities, along with official government services came together to assist victims
and to ease their suffering in providing them shelter, basic necessities, as well as
moral support. Nick Jans, a Vietnam Veteran, said the generosity shown after the
bushfires invoked the Anzac spirit, which he stated was not just a matter of the armed
forces but deeply embedded in the Australian psyche 4. It is through the influence of
Anzac Legend that has inspired Australians to recapture the Anzac spirit, engraining
the attributes displayed by them to their very own thinking process. Through such
times, the significance of the Anzac Legend and its strong links and influence to the
Australian community are clear. Therefore, the Anzac Centenary is tremendously
important for modern Australia in acknowledging and honoring the Anzac soldiers
that fought in Gallipoli, forming an inheritance that presently, has great meaning and
relevance

Hospital Flow Diagram Paper
Results: The CONSORT flow diagram for study is shown in figure1. Patients who
finally analyzed were 42, 90 in group I and II respectively. Patients demographics
and stone criteria are displayed in table 1. Success rate was 90.5% (38/42) and
97.8% (88/90) in groups I and II respectively with statistically insignificant
difference (p = 0.3). Complete stone retrieval without fragmentation was achieved
in 35 patients (83.3%) in group I and 74 patients (82.2%) in group II. Stone
migrated proximally in 4 patients (9.5%) in group I and only 2 patients (2.2%) in
group II in whom procedure ended by ureteral stenting (table 2). Mucosal injury
was observed in 3 patients (7.1%) and 4 (4.4%) in groups I and II respectively. No
major complications were faced in either... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite this fact that was noticed also in our study; we do not think it would result
in this great decrease for the need of post ureteroscopy stenting. We had no
significant difference between the two groups concerning minor intraoperative
complications. We noticed mucosal injury in 3 patients (7.1%) in emergency
group and 4 patients (4.4%) in delayed group. Hematuria also was observed in 2
patients (4.7%) in emergency group and 3 (3.3%) in delayed group. These results
were comparable to those reported by Sarica et al who found no significant
difference between the two groups in terms of intraoperative complications [7]. No
major complications such as perforation or avulsion were noticed in our study. This
was comparable to the results of Matani et al who reported serious complications in
0.7% of patients [6]. Nevertheless; we did not conduct a cost effective comparison.
We recommend conducting prospective studies on larger scale to confirm the
principle of emergency

Airport Security Essay 8
Running head:
Airport Security
David A. Fowler
Embry Riddle Aeronautical University Abstract
Through the history of aviation the importance of airport security has steadily
increased. Since the disastrous terrorist attack of September 11, 2001, many changes
have taken place at airports to prevent such an attack from occurring again. The
purpose of this paper is to: outline airport security procedures, discuss the different
technologies involved with airport security, as well as examine the components of
airport security. In addition I will also discuss the Transportation Security
Administration s role in our nation s airport security.

In the future, the number of airports to be inducted into this program is expected to
go up to 40 in order to provide a broader test base, of at least 10%. The TSA has an
extensive research and development branch as well. The mission is geared towards
anticipating future threats to civil transportation security. In so doing, programs are
conducted that accelerate and expand promising technologies to the point of
operational test and evaluation. Technologies that have successfully gone through
this process have been passed to the Security Equipment Integrated Product Team for
deployment in our nation s airports. The research and development goal is to develop
systems that are fully integrated into the aviation system; are highly automated,
utilizing the strengths of a variety of technologies; and are geared to optimizing the
screener s operational performance. The Transportation Security R D Division has
divided its functions into four interrelated program areas: Explosives and Weapons
Detection, Aircraft Hardening, Human Factors, and Airport Security Technology
Integration. Each program area makes a significant contribution toward achieving the
goals of the transportation security system of the future. The Division conducts R D
projects to develop technologies to protect three major entry points to the aircraft or
