Create a Community Based Health-Care Program Created by Katdija Azeez TOPIC :Malnutrition -Care of Young children
Reducing malnutrition through community outreach program- education and donations Malnutrition or malnourishment is a condition that results from eating a diet lacking in nutrients. Malnutrition in children is especially harmful. The damage to physical and cognitive development during the first two years of a child’s life is largely irreversible. Malnutrition also leads to poor school performance. I would like to create a community-based program to be of benefit to these young children. To make a difference in people's lives.
The role of my program is to educate and sanction that each child has nutritious food accessible. Participation of the community has been recognized as one of the core strategies of achieving the goals of health and well-being for all. My target group is low income (those in poverty) Torontonians, To identify children with malnutrition and provide timely access to quality care. I plan to put together some community volunteers and initiate treatment for children with acute malnutrition before they become seriously ill https://www.google.com/ search?q = toronto+homeless+kids&oq = toronto+homeless+kids&aqs =chrome..69i57j0i22i30l2j0i390i650l5.10721j0j9&sourceid= chrome&ie =UTF-8
The entire community benefits from an outreach program such as this one. If not presently, when these children grow up the entire nation becomes better. Adults who were undernourished as children are at risk of developing diseases such as obesity, diabetes cardiovascular Diabetes Type 2
For combating malnutrition in children my strategy would be, first and foremost to: (a) provide nutrition education to mothers By social media By sending nutritious food ideas pamphlets to parents by their child when they attending school Hosting small interactive conferences at community centers by inviting parents (b) detect these families with cases of malnutrition (c) introduce and donate nutritional supplements to homes (d) Accessibility to well stocked food banks with nutritious foods (e) Active volunteers to go to homes of people in poverty to drop off food items (f) Very important is funds start a fundraiser campaign , set up volunteers in a park to do car wash also BBQ / lemonade sale at a reasonable cost. Advertise beforehand by flyers and social media, invite others to join in the fight against hunger. a fundraiser is an excellent way to have fun and make a change at the same time.
The benefits of these activities would be in the best interest of all Both the donors and the target group (child poverty). Helping with immediate food security and education needs is the first step to healthy futures for children, families and communities. D onors supporting meal and education programs that nourish bodies and feed minds, T hey would have a sense of satisfaction It is hugely empowering and, in turn, can make them happier and more fulfilled
To measure the success of all this hard work by the volunteers T he plan is to conduct surveys by social media to all those families who we have helped by donation. To get feedback on their status and to conduct a ‘Subjective Global Nutrition Assessment (SGNA) is a nutritional assessment (a simple form) diagnosing children malnutrition Get help of the health care provider for these specific children. And generally, to observe the growth and symptoms' – Wasting Stunting Underweight deficiencies for these kids.
My vision is to eradicate malnutrition totally By developing strong men and women with physical and intellectual capabilities to build a strong nation. It would make me and others extremely happy that all kids are well fed with no physical complications caused by malnutrition. This will be great for their social well being as well,
The first step of success is ; T o get my volunteers to be with me in the fight for good food for all kids Apart from our fundraiser activity M ake request from local businesses for cash or kind donations for a good cause Make request to the local municipal government for some funding for charity work Get us established as a professional organization like the UNICEF or Redcross
Impact of Malnutrition
Designing participation processes cannot be just confined to the health sector. When we think about the social determinants of health, most of them are outside the direct control of the health sector ‘ To strengthen a child is to strengthen a whole nation ’ Cre Created by B. K. A
