BTA0194 BIOLOGY AND ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE FOR ENGINEERS FOR POLLUTION MONITORING THE PROBLEM OF OVER POPULATION AND ITS EFFECTS ON ENVIRONMENT Project by : SAM WILLIAMS D 192224255

INTRODUCTION : Overpopulation is one of the most pressing issues of our time, significantly impacting the environment and global sustainability. As the world’s population continues to grow at an unprecedented rate, the strain on natural resources intensifies, leading to severe environmental degradation, biodiversity loss, and climate change. The interplay between human population growth and environmental health is complex and multifaceted, involving economic, social, and ecological dimensions.

Causes of Overpopulation Improved Medical Care Advancements in healthcare and sanitation have reduced mortality rates, leading to population growth. Urbanization The migration of people from rural to urban areas leads to population concentration and growth. Lack of Family Planning Limited access to contraception and education about family planning contribute to high birth rates.

Population Growth Trends 1 1950s Global population was around 2.5 billion. 2 2010s Global population reached 7 billion. 3 2050 (projected) Global population is estimated to reach 9.7 billion.

Impact on the Environment 1 Deforestation Clearing of forests for agriculture, housing, and resource extraction. 2 Habitat Loss Destruction of natural habitats, leading to the decline of biodiversity. 3 Pollution Increased waste, emissions, and resource consumption contributing to air, water, and soil pollution. 4 Resource Depletion Overconsumption of natural resources, such as water, fossil fuels, and minerals.

METHODOLOGY : I started to create 15 survey questions according to the researching topic I sent the survey to supervisor and got approval and I started sending the google form to friends & family T he responses should be atleast 30 and collect survey results from Excel sheet Analysis about survey question, for each survey question I created bar graph by Excel

RESULT AND DISCUSSION :

RESULT AND DISCUSSION : In this survey, we found that the majority of respondents believe urban areas

RESULT AND DISCUSSION : In this survey, we found that the majority of respondents believe EDUCATION AND AWARENESS

RESULT AND DISCUSSION : In this survey, we found that the majority of respondents believe AGRICULTURAL have the highest pollution levels due to overpopulation.

RESULT AND DISCUSSION : In this survey, we found that the majority of respondents believe LOSS OF NATURAL HABITATS have the highest pollution levels due to overpopulation.

RESULT AND DISCUSSION : In this survey, we found that the majority of respondents believe 26-45 have the highest pollution levels due to overpopulation.

RESULT AND DISCUSSION : In this survey, we found that the majority of respondents believe HIGH COST have the overpopulation.

Potential Solutions and Strategies Family Planning Improving access to contraception and education about family planning can help reduce population growth. S ustainable Development Adopting eco-friendly practices in areas like agriculture, energy, and waste management can mitigate the environmental impact of overpopulation. Conservation Efforts Protecting and restoring natural habitats, as well as conserving biodiversity, can help offset the effects of overpopulation.

Conclusion 1 The Challenge Overpopulation is a complex issue that puts significant strain on the environment and natural resources. 2 The Opportunity By addressing the causes of overpopulation and implementing sustainable solutions, we can mitigate the environmental impact and pave the way for a more sustainable future. 3 The Call to Action Governments, businesses, and individuals must work together to tackle the issue of overpopulation and protect our planet for generations to come.
