The book of Psalms contains approximately 160 questions. The theme of the book is human suffering, pain The name "El Shaddai" appears 31 times in the Book of Job introduction

Facts Job means enemy/ HATED / PERSECUTED/ SORROW which might have been a nick name given by his friends (Pronounced in Hebrew as YEOV) He must have had another name. He was a rich man – King of Uz. (Job 29:25, Job 3:13-14) Job was the forefather of Melchizedek – He was a faithful High Priest . He was a Judge . (29:21) He lived before Abraham. There is no mention of Israel, Moses, an Exodus or even the Israelite patriarchs. He was also an astrologer, chief, politician, economist, and was also spiritual .

Job 29 – What kind of man was Job? 1-5: Spiritual status & family 6: Physical status 7-11: Social status 12-17: Public service 18-20: His expectations / HOPE 21-25: Other’s opinion of himself

Did Job design the Pyramids? An Egyptian priest-historian, Manetho wrote of the builder of the Great Pyramid: That he behaved arrogantly toward the gods themselves, but repenting of this, composed a Sacred Book. https://armstronginstitute.org/709-job-and-the-great-pyramid

Job was a friend of the Pharaohs (4 th dynasty) Khufu (Cheops) 2 nd King died 2566 BC This leader stopped the polytheistic worship occurring around Egypt at the time. Khafre (Chephren) Menkaure ( Mykerinus ) 4th-dynasty (c. 2575–c. 2465 BCE) Banned the making of idols There was a big library in Alexandria, Egypt which was burnt by Julius Caesar.

The story of Job may seem symbolic, but Job is actually mentioned in other parts of the Bible, making him a real figure. For example, in Ezekiel 14:14 , Job is listed alongside Noah and Daniel as righteous men. He is also referenced in the New Testament in James 5:11 , where his patience is praised. This shows that Job’s story held great significance throughout biblical history.

UZ is between Egypt and Babylon Currently Salalah, Oman It is also adjacent to Midian The first battle of the world happened here (Megiddo)

Job 1 - Job and His Family in Uz Job was a righteous man “YASHAR” – Straight, Just, pleasant, prosperous “TAOM” – Morally pious “Yaw-ray” – Looked after his holiness “ Soor - ra -eh” – Physical health, socially active, High standards

Job had 7 sons and 3 daughters 7000 sheep 3000 camels 500 yoke of oxen 500 female donkeys A very large household “so that this man was the greatest of all the people of the East.”

“And his sons would go and feast  in their houses, each on his appointed day, and would send and invite their three sisters to eat and drink with them. So it was, when the days of feasting had run their course, that Job would send and sanctify them, and he would rise early in the morning and offer burnt offerings  according to the number of them all. For Job said, “It may be that my sons have sinned and cursed God in their hearts.” Thus, Job did regularly.”

Satan Attacks Job’s Character Satan meets God in the earth, not heaven. God boasts about Job to Satan and Satan challenges God to attack Job and see if he still stands in his faith. God gives him permission to attack everything Job has, except his life.

Oxen and donkeys – Essentials taken away by Sabeans Sheep – Income (Shooting star / Meteor) taken away by fire of God from heaven Camel – Transport taken away by Chaldeans Children killed by storm from the wilderness Job Loses His Property and Children in one day

“Naked I came from my mother’s womb, And naked shall I return there. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; Blessed be the name of the Lord.” In all this Job did not sin nor charge God with wrong.

Job 2: Satan Attacks Job’s Health “Skin for skin! Yes, all that a man has he will give for his life. But stretch out Your hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will surely curse You to Your face!” And the  Lord  said to Satan, “Behold, he is in your hand, but spare his life.”

Hyperimmunoglobulin E syndrome - Job syndrome SORE BOILS Bone and tooth defects, including fractures Eczema Skin abscesses and infection Repeated sinus infections Repeated lung infections

Just because Job’s wife told him to curse God and die doesn’t mean that she was a horrible woman. She was with Job even though he lost everything. He has also lost her beloved children. The fact that she bore him 10 children later, shows that she was young enough and could have left him for another man, but she did not choose to do so. If Job was a King, she must have been the Queen of Uz. “Do you still hold fast to your integrity? Curse God and die!”

He also had seven sons and three daughters.

The Tomb of Job JOB LIVED 140 YEARS after this story. (Must be around 210 in total) Buried in Salalah, Oman

God challenging Satan about Job shows how much faith He had on him. Sometimes God allows Satan to give us the sorrows of life, but even in those difficult times we must have faith in him. (1) God vindicates Himself in the end, (2) God is sovereign over suffering, (3) Expressing our faith through lament, (4) Don't be like Job's friends, (5) Learn from what they did right, (6) Be patient with the sufferer, and (7) Accurately apply Scripture to your counselee's life.
