Breast scintigraphy
Indications: palpable lesions? Cannot detect lesions
<1 cm. Dense breasts.
Pre-requesite: sonomammogramwithin 1m, LMP
precautions: PH of biopsy (after 2-4w), PH of RT or
CTH (after 2-4 m).
Tracers: 20-30 mCiIVI (in contralateralarm) of Tc-
99m SestaMIBI ? or TH 201?. In case of bilateral
breast disease, the IVI is done in dorsum of LL.
Patient is supine with arms above head. Low energy
high resolution collimator is used.

1. Dynamic scan over 10 m from time of injof tracer.
Time-activity curves are plotted (lesion/ background
curves). +-Spectviews using 360o rotating cameras.
2. Static views after 10 m and 2 hr, ant post both
laterals.
Normally, uniform symmetrical uptake of tracer with
a physiological increased uptake at nipple( warmer
uptake), axillaryfolds are linear and uniform and
breast/background activity should be < 1.21

Lacrimal scintigraphy
Indications: epiphora, post-op study.
Pt sits 10 cm from naisoninfrontof pin-hole
collimator, immobile, a drop of Tc99m
pertechnetate0.25 mCi+ saline in both eyes.
Dynamic images for 3 min at a rate of one
image/3sec.
Static images every 5 m for 20 m.
Advantage: easy, non-invasive and
physiological.
