1. Brigada Pagbasa BARUTO ( B uild an A ctive R eader that U ndertake reading T herapy for better O pportunities )

2. What is Brigada Pagbasa ? The Brigada Pagbasa (BP) as a form of  Brigada Eskwela (through its volunteerism spirit), is an after-school reading program that  aims to cultivate a culture of reading among learners and help those who need further assistance in developing their literacy skills .

3. It is a response to Hamon : Bawat Bata Bumabasa or  DepEd 3Bs Initiative issued under DM 173, s. 2019 . What is Brigada Pagbasa ?

4. Rationale This reading advocacy serves as an avenue for all stakeholders to contribute possible solutions to improve the country’s education system, especially in equipping the learners with 21st century skills.

5. Rationale Brigada Pagbasa as part of the Brigada Eskwela aims to make every learner a reader by engaging partners and stakeholders to promote the culture of reading .

6. Rationale Las Nieves National High School’ Brigada Pagbasa will utilize teaching individually or in groups and targets academic difficulties that potentially hinder learning.

7. Rationale  This Brigada Pagbasa , aims to help learners develop their reading abilities and at the same time gain general knowledge to apply in all subject areas. 

8. Rationale   The school Reading Remediation is a year-round activity across grade levels (Grades 7 to 12). Reading assessment will be conducted during the first month of the school year  via Philippine Informal Reading Inventory  ( Phi-IRI) and Functional Literacy Assessment Tool (FLAT).

9. Rationale   T he reading report of Las Nieves National High School for the past three years reflects greater number of frustration level and letter level specifically during pretest in Phil-IRI and the FLAT results.

10. Rationale   It is in this light that BARUTO (Build an Active Reader that Undertake reading Therapy for better Opportunities) is accentuated in relation to the reading performance of the students to provide intervention to the struggling and non-reader.

11. Rationale Indeed to become literate is an important component in the development of children. Every Filipino child must be able to read because No Child should be left behind.
