first thing to do.

Speak up when y ou hear offensive jokes. Discriminatory
speech and actions should be denounced. Y ou have to
learn to speak up to let every one know that biased
actions and speech are never acceptable.

Explore y our own stereoty pes. Get involve on
community outreach activities.

Y ou have to unite and dig deeper as to where y ou fit in.
Learning about lives of people with diverse
characteristics can be done through reading. It is also a
good way to learn how different are y our experiences
from others.

You can start to change the way you think about
individual differences by being aware of the words y ou
use. The words y ou use can affect the ways y ou organize
y our world and others. The words y ou use can often be
y our subconcious way y ou perpetuate discrimination .
4. RA CE/COLOR DISCRIMINTION involves treating som eon e
(a n applicant or employee) unfavorably because he/she is of a certain
r a ce or because of personal characteristics associated with race (such
a s hair textu r e, skin color , or cer t a in fa cia l fea t u r es). Color
discrimination involves treating som eone unfavorably because of skin
color com plex ion .
5.SEX-BASED DISCRIMINATION involves treating
som eone (an applicant or em ployee) unfavorably because
of that person's sex.
3. DISA BILITY DISCRIMINATION occurs when an employer
or other entity covered by the Americans with Disabilities Act, a s
a m ended, or the Rehabilitation Act, as amended, treats a qualified
in dividual with a disability who is a n em ploy ee or a pplica n t
