Introduction Chandigarh Capitol Complex, located in the sector-1 of Chandigarh city in India, is a government compound designed by the architect Le Corbusier and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is spread over an area of around 100 acres and is a prime manifestation of Chandigarh's architecture. It comprises three buildings, three monuments and a lake, including the Palace of Assembly or Legislative Assembly, Secretariat, High Court, Open Hand Monument, Geometric Hill and Tower of Shadows. The complex consists of 3 buildings and 4 monuments Buildings :- Jawan Haryana High court (established in 1955) Architectural chracterictics :- The building has three entrances each of different colour blue ,yellow and red Sun breakers to eliminate direct sunlight. Height 8M The roof had this wave concept to eliminate heat.

Governer’s Palace Architectural chracterictics :- The palace is divided into two parts after the constitution left side of the building is for punjab and right side of the building is for haryana . The building has a ‘ governers gate’ which was specially gifted to india by france it is accesed twice a year only by the governer . Sun breakers to eliminate direct sunlight. Height 15M # Skylights at the top off the governer’s palace. # Sun breakers to eliminate excessive heat or direct sun light # The Pyramid was not designed by le corbusier . # Hyperboloid, parabolic dome.

Open Hand Monument Architectural chracterictics :- Open hand monumet Denotes “open – to give and open to take.” It Symbolize’s Peace. Weight 56 ton. Height 26 M. Rotated by wind. The shape is of a dove. “This Open Space is used for government Meetings frequently.” “No need of microphone within the space Since it reverbs the sound within the four Faces.”

Tower of shadows Architectural chracterictics :- This moument was built to test The sunbreakers before implying the Idea on the building. Experiment for sun shading. Height 12M The Entrance of the monument is Facing towards the north. Exposed Concrete.

Geometric Hills Architectural chracterictics :- This monument was built to screen The buildings inside the capital compl - ex from the outside of the complex Concept is contrast. It is screened to maintain the visual Prestige of the buildings in the co- mplex Height 5M Inclination 30deg It has a depiction i s a “swastika” and a n “ ashoka chakra” Exposed Concrete tiles. Contructed with the building waste During construction.
