Capnodium : Capnodium is a genus of sooty moulds in the family C apnodiaceae . It was circumscribed in 1849 by french mycologist Camille Montagne with C apnodium salicinum as the type species.

Capnodium

Scientific Classification: Kingdom : Fungi Division : Ascomycota Class : Dothideomycetes Order : Capnodiales Family : Capnodiaceae Genus : Capnodium

SYMPTOMS: Black encrustation is formed on leaves, flowers, stem and fruit. Mycelium is superficial and lives on the sugary secretion of the plant hoppers. Photosynthetic ability is reduced which results in reduced fruit set and fruit fall.

SYMPTOMS ( Capnodium citri ) Fruit - Honeydew or sooty mould. Fruit - reduced size. Growing point - Honeydew or sooty mould. Inflorescence - Honeydew or sooty mould. Leaves - Honeydew or sooty mould.

Fruit - honeydew or sooty mould:

Growing point – honeydew or sooty mould:

HOST RANGE: C.mangiferae infects Mango. C.citri infects Citrus. C.thea infects Tea. C.braziliensis infects Coffee.

Life cycle of Capnodium :

Stemphylium: SCIENTIFIC CLASSIFICATION Kingdom : Fungi Division : Ascomycota Class : Dothideomycetes Order : Pleosporomycetidae Family : Pleosporales Genus : Stemphylium

Stemphylium solani : Stemphylium solani is a plant pathogen fungus in the phylum A scomycota . It causes grey leaf spot in tomatoes and leaf blight in Alliums and Cotton. Symptoms include white spots on leaves and stems that progress to sunken red or purple lesions and finally leaf necrosis.
