c)Intercalary Meristematic

INTRODUCTION:
1.Name any 2 parts of our body?
Ans: Hand, leg, eye etc are the Parts of our body.
2.What does human body is made up of? Ans:
Human body is made up of cell.
3.What is cell?
Ans: The basic structural and functional unit of
living organisms.
4.What do we called as a group of cells?
Ans: A group of cells is called as Tissue.

Statement of the aim:

So dear students, in today’s class we shall discuss about
the topic “Plant Tissue” from the unit “Tissue”.

Tissue:
A group of similar cells that performs specific function is called
tissue.
1)plant tissue
2)Animal tissue
Types of plant tissue

Meristematic tissue :
It includes cells that divide continuously.
▶ It helps in a growth of a plant.
▶ It is not present in all regions of
a plant.
▶ It is present only in a growing
area.
Features of Meristematic
tissue
▶ Cell contains thinner cell wall.
▶ Is as active cells.
▶ It consists prominent nuclei.
▶ Cell do not have vacuole.

Types of Meristematic tissue:
1.Apical Meristematic.
2.Lateral Meristematic.
3.Inter calary Meristematic.
1.Apical Meristematic:
It is found in tip of a roots.
▶It helps in increasing height of a plant.

Lateral Meristematic:
Lateral Meristematic tissue is also called as secondary Meristematic.
▶ It is found in sides of stems and roots .
▶ It helps in increasing diameter of a Plant.

Inter calary Meristematic:
It is found at internodes and at stalk of a leaf.

This tissue allows for rapid growth and elongation.

Typically at the base of the internodes and the base
of
leaves.

Concluding statement:
So dear students, in today’s class we learnt about
“plant tissue” from the unit “Tissue”.

Recapitulation Questions:
1.What is tissue?
Ans: A group of cells that performs specific function is
called tissue.
2.Which are the types of Meristematic tissue? Ans:
Apical Meristematic
Lateral Meristematic
Intercalary Meristematic

Evaluation
Tool:
Fill in the blanks with suitable answers:
1.A group of cells that performs specific function is
called
2.The tissue found in tip of a plant is called
3.The Intercalary Meristematic tissue is found at
4.Lateral Meristematic helps in increasing diameter of
( Plant, Internodes, tissue, animal, apical Meristematic)

Home Assignment:
1.Write a short note on Meristematic tissue.
2.Draw a neat labelled diagram of apical
Meristematic tissue.
