CHOICE The way to happiness

LET’S PLAY Would you rather…?

Choice is the option or ability to evaluate various courses of action and to select among them. It occurs as you exercise the power of your will. Everything you do is the result of making a choice. You may often do things unconsciously, but you cannot avoid making choices. Even the choice to do nothing is still a choice.

WHERE DID “CHOICE” BEGIN? Genesis 2:16-17 “The Lord God commanded the man, saying, “From any tree of the garden you may eat freely; but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you will surely die”

THE GIFT OF CHOICE God is the one who gave us the ability to make choices in the first place. God gave humanity the freedom to choose between good and evil, obedience and disobedience, life and death. Every choice comes with one serious stipulation: regardless of what you choose, you must always face the consequences of your actions.

“With great power, comes great responsibility” -Uncle Ben

THE GIFT OF CHOICE Let’s talk about the brain In a cat’s brain, the frontal lobe makes up a mere 3.5% In a dog’s brain, it’s double that, at 7% In a chimpanzee’s brain, it’s la little more at 17% But in your magnificent brain, the frontal lobe is a whopping 33 to 38%

THE FRONTAL LOBE We possess a natural ability to reason and plan that is much more complex than any other species in the entire world. We are distinct in all of creation, and it’s all thanks to our frontal lobe. It is with the frontal lobe that we make judgments and reason. It is also where social norms are stored and where long term planning takes place.

“Happiness, like unhappiness, is a proactive choice! -Stephen R. Covey
