The Christian Lifestyle A new circle of influence

The Christian Lifestyle A new circle of influence Motivated by a new spirit

The focus is always on how to maximize our lives here on earth.

The world would love you as one of its own if you belonged to it, but you are no longer part of the world. I chose you to come out of the world. - John 15:19

But the Scriptures declare that we are all prisoners of sin, so we receive God’s promise of freedom only by believing in Jesus Christ . Before the way of faith in Christ was available to us, we were placed under guard by the law. We were kept in protective custody, so to speak, until the way of faith was revealed . Let me put it another way. - Galatians 3:22

For you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus . And all who have been united with Christ in baptism have put on Christ , like putting on new clothes. - Galatians 3:26-27

The Christian Lifestyle A new circle of influence Motivated by a new spirit Christian lives have a new motivation

And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice —the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. - Romans 12:1

Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. - Romans 12:2

The Christian Lifestyle Two ideas clarified: True joy comes from knowing and doing God’s will The truest form of worship is the Christian Lifestyle .

Christianity is about following Jesus every day . That involves studying the Bible (Word)

THE BIBLE The Bible is the story of God’s redeeming work in human history . The Bible is the Word of God which convicts us of sin , lead us to salvation , and teach us how to follow Jesus in daily life .

The Word of God is powerful. And, our cooperation is essential for this power to be released within us. Jesus Is The Word Of God(John 8:31) obedience to His teachings leads to becoming more like Him.

Obedience opens up our hearts and minds to further truths in the Word of God. Obedience allows the Holy Spirit to accomplish within us the transformation which develops Christ-like character. Hearing the word of God is one thing and studying it for life is another thing. It requires discipline. (Acts 17:11)

The word of God has the power to transform life (Deut. 32:47, John 6:63). We must discipline ourselves to read it daily and study it to internalize it . Then we need to obey and teach others (Deut. 6:4-9). We can then be like The House Built On Rock (Matthew 7:24-27) Studying the Word of God and internalizing it leads to purified thoughts , wise , life-giving words and actions .

The seven pillars of effective (and transformative) Bible study: 1) Understanding context. 2) Building a habit. 3) Practicing memorization. 4) Using the right tools. 5) Learning in community. 6) Integrating prayer. 7) Pursuing vulnerability.

5 Types of Bible Studies Topical: A topical study is a study of … topics. Character: A character study is a study of a person (or place) in Scripture. Chronological: A chronological study is where you study through the Bible chronologically – ie: in the order events took place

5 Types of Bible Studies Book: Studying a book is simply walking verse-by-verse (or paragraph-by-paragraph) through the book in order to understand what the author was saying. Word: Looking at where the word is used throughout Scripture. The best method of doing word studies is to look up the word in its original language (ie: Hebrew for OT, Greek for NT).
