Objective : Students will understand the concept of resilience and how values and virtues contribute to building resilience. Students will analyze that personal values and virtues help them overcome challenges. Students will create a real-life scenarios where resilience is necessary and how they can apply their values to these situations.
What is resilience? What is Values? What is Virtue? How does values and virtues differ each other?
Resilience is the ability to recover quickly from difficulties or setbacks . Example: John applied for his dream job but was disappointed when he didn’t get it. Instead of giving up, he used the rejection as motivation to improve. He updated his resume, sought feedback, and practiced his interview skills. A few months later, John applied for a similar position at another company and was hired, proving his resilience in the face of initial failure.
Values -Principles or standards of behavior; what is important in life . Examples: honesty, respect, responsibility Virtues - A trait or quality deemed to be morally good and is valued as a foundation of good character . Examples: courage, patience, integrity
Group Activity: Direction : Students are grouped into 5 groups. Discuss how the values and virtues you identified earlier can be applied to overcome the challenges in the scenario . Representative of the group will present the output in front of the class. Scenarios: Group 1: failing a test Group 2 : dealing with a family issue Group 3: facing peer pressure Group 4: being left out by the group Group 5: accidentally broke the flower vase
