Defination Of Citizenship Education. Citizenship Education is teaching or promoting those skills that help people to become active and responsible citizens in a society . These skills help the person to understand Rule of law, democratic process, Critical thinking, Personal role with rights and responsiblities. Citizenship education is a way of providing background knowledge and skills to the young generation so that they may understand their role in future for a democratic and tolerant society
Citizenship education gives people the knowledge and skills to understand, challenge and engage with democratic society including politics, the media, civil society, the economy and the law . Democracies need active, informed and responsiblecitizens - citizens who are willing and able to take responsibility for themselves and their communities and contribute to the political process.

Why there is a need to introduce this subject at University Level? Creating a sense of Rights and responsibilities Case of war on Terror in two decades of 2000,s Religious and political intolerance Alien Youth - Less understanding and involvement in democratic process Being an agent of change in local regional, national and international level Critical thinking to save then from several anti social agents
How does it benefit young people? It helps them to develop self-confidence, socialization and a sense of activity, It gives them a voice: in the life of their schools, their communities and society at large . It enables them to make a positive contribution by developing the knowledge and experience needed to claim their rights and understand their responsibilities
What are its benefits to the society? Citizenship brings benefits for schools, other educational organizations and for society . For schools /educational organizations, it helps to produce motivated and responsible learners, who relate positively to each other, to staff and to the surrounding community . For society it helps to create an active and responsible citizenry, willing to participate in the life of the nation and the wider world and play its part in the democraticprocess.
Community Engagement.
What Is Community? A community is a small or large social unit that has something in common, such as norms, religion, values, or identity. Communities often share a sense of place that is situated in a given geographical area
To better understand the meaning of community engagement. Community – Groups of people based on common geography (country, state, region, suburb, neighbourhood, etc.) or common interest (customs, values, religion, needs, etc.), which may include citizens, businesses, residents, stakeholders, and more Engagement – The act of including stakeholders in activities and communications and allowing them to contribute in a meaningful way
What is Community Engagement? Community engagement involves taking a strategic approach to an organization’s community-based stakeholders. This includes building relationships, developing communications, and managing interactions in order to achieve specific outcomes for the organization and the community itself . To expand further, community engagement is a type of stakeholder engagement . Other terms used to talk about community engagement include civic engagement, public consultation, public participation, community consultation, community collaboration, stakeholder management, and community management.
Why Community Engagement Matters? Make better decisions – Community engagement gives you more information and perspectives, which can help you make decisions that consider the bigger picture and impact on all your stakeholders Be socially responsible – By engaging with the community, you can become more aware of social, environmental, and economic factors at play and (hopefully) contribute in a positive way Increase trust – By communicating with community members, you demonstrate greater transparency, which can help to build trust Gain a license to operate – Increased trust and satisfaction as a result of community engagement can make it more likely that your organization and project will gain community acceptance (in other words, a social license to operate) Successfully manage conflict and negotiate – By strategically engaging with the community (identifying and analyzing stakeholders), you can pinpoint potential sources of conflict earlier, as well as identify potential common ground that might help different groups (and your organization) negotiate and move forward with the project
