Physical educationis a course taught in school that focuses on
developing physical fitness and the ability to perform and enjoy day-to-
day physical activities with ease.
Physical education contributes to each child’s total growth and
development.
Kids also develop skills necessary to participate in a wide range of
activities, such as soccer, basketball, or swimming.

Education
According to H C buck,” Physical Education is the part of general education programmewhich
is considered with growth, development and education of children through the medium of big
muscle activities. It is the education of whole child by means of physical activities. Physical
activities are tools and are so selected and conducted as to influence every child’s life physically,
mentally, emotionally and morally.”
According to J.B. Nash, ”Physical Educationis that phase of the whole field of
theeducationthat deals with big muscle activities and their related responses.”
Charles A. Bucher defines physical education, an integral part of total education process, is
a field of endeavor which has as its aim the development of physically, mentally, emotionally and
socially fit citizens through the medium of physical activities which have been selected with a view

Central Advisory Board of physical Education and Recreation defines Physical
education as an education through physical activities for the development of total
personality of the child to its fullness and perfection in body, mind and spirit.
Oberteuffersays, “Physical Educationis the sum of those experiences which comes
to individual through movements.”
