Introduction: Nutrients: food substances that provide nourishment for the proper growth and development of our body. Why do we need food? We need food for energy, growth, development and to keep ourselves healthy The process by which living organisms obtain food and utilize it for their growth and development is known as nutrition. What is nutrition?

VITAMINS AND MINERALS Vitamins are required for proper functioning of our body. they protect us from different diseases. There are different types of vitamins Vitamins A, B, C , D, E and K. Lack of vitamins causes deficiency diseases. Sources: fruits and vegetables.

MINERALS Minerals are nutrients which protect us from various diseases and keep us fit and healthy. Some minerals are: 1. calcium 2. iron 3. phosphorous 4. iodine 5. potassium 6. sodium 7. fluorine 8. magnesium
