FACT or BLUFF: 5 . In Multiple Choice Items, a statement of fact is made. It is followed by 3 or 4 alternative responses from which only the best or correct one must be selected. FACT BLUFF

CLASSROOM ASSESSMENT – is an in integral part of curriculum implementation. It allows the teachers to track and measure learners’ progress and to adjust instruction accordingly.

2 TYPES OF CLASSROOM ASSESSMENT FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENT

FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT - refers to a wide variety of methods that teachers use to conduct in-process evaluations of student comprehension, learning needs, and academic progress during a lesson or unit.

SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENT - is to evaluate student learning at the end of an instructional unit by comparing it against some standards.

OBJECTIVE TESTS - this a test consisting of factual questions requiring extremely short answers that can be quickly scored by anyone.

TYPES OF OBJECTIVE TEST ITEMS True or False Items Matching Type Items Multiple Choice Items Completion Items

TRUE – FALSE ITEMS - a factual statement is made and the learner is required to respond with either true or falls depending on the correctness of the statement .

TRUE – FALSE ITEMS Advantages: Can test a large body of material They are easy to score Disadvantages: Difficult to construct questions that are definitely true or false. They are prone to guessing.

MATCHING ITEMS - Involves connecting contents of one list to contents in another list.

MATCHING ITEMS Advantages: Can be used to measure questions beginning with who, when, where and what Easy to score and easy to construct Disadvantages: Difficult to construct effective questions that measure higher order thinking skills.

MULTIPLE CHOICE TEST ITEMS - A statement of fact is made. It is followed by 3 or 4 alternative responses from which only the best or correct one must be selected.

Advantages: Measures a variety of levels of learning. Easy to score When well constructed, has proven to be an effective assessment tool Disadvantages: Difficult to construct effective questions that measure higher order thinking skills and contain plausible distracters. MULTIPLE CHOICE TEST ITEMS

COMPLETION ITEMS - In this, the learners are required to supply the words or figures which have been left out. They may be presented in the forms of questions or phrases in which a learner is required to respond with a word or several statements.

Advantages: Relatively easy to construct Can cover a wide range of content Reduces guessing Disadvantages: Primarily used for lower levels of thinking. Must be constructed carefully so as not to provide too many clues to the correct answer COMPLETION ITEMS
