The activities which are carried out to strengthen the classroom learning as well as other activities both inside and outside the classroom to develop the personality of the child CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

CCA refers to the activities, programs and learning experiences that complement, in some way, what students are learning inside and outside the school.

Co-curricular Activities refers to the activities, programs, and learning experiences that complement curricular activities and prepare the students in the “Art of Living and Working Together.”

IMPORTANCE: CCA gives confidence Students can learn team spirit Bring a positive change in the child Students will get a chance to sharpen their talent To develop the all-round personality of the students Co-curricular activities are to keep the students physically active

Co curricular activities are instrumental for drawing out best potentialities of the child. Co curricular activities prepare students practically for future. The normal curriculum can only go so far as to teach and educate students about educational theories.

Games, sports and athletics directly contribute to physical development of students.   co-curricular activities raise student’s ability in co-operation, co-ordination, organization and leads toward leadership

Barriers to Co-curricular Activities Difficulties faced by students Some times they feel that these activities interfere with their studies . Lack of time. Lack of concentration to study due to tiredness. Students are too shy to participate in these activities. Students are not economically well off to bear the extra expenses. 39

Barriers to Co-curricular Activities Problems faced by the teachers Teachers over burdened Teacher has lack of knowledge Teachers are not competent to organize a sufficient number of activities. Most of the teacher consider these activities as unnecessary. 40
