What it does it mean to be a Human? How do we study society?

Oral Communication Objectives: At the end of the lesson, students are expected to: a. Identify the differences of nationality, ethnicity, and gender. b. Value the different social differences. c. Demonstrate the different culture and ethnicity of the Philippines.

What makes us different?

Environment and history are two of the primary factors that shape the differences among human groups. Influenced by beliefs. Practices Material Possession Through constant practice, these sets are passed from generatin to generation.

As each human group experiences differing environmental conditions, cultural variations are established.

Activity 2: Group For 10 minutes, share with one another the following informations. The class will be divided into 6 groups. Your parents cultural background (Ilokano, Visayan, Kapangpangan or etc.) The dialects and languages you can speak. Your nationality (Filipino, Chinese, American) After the group discussion, summarize into two paragaphs your similarities and differences.

Are you FILIPINO CITIZEN? what are your Basis?

NATIONALITY •is identity that is tied to being part of a nation or country. A group of people who share the same history, traditions, and language. •If one is born in the Philippines, he or she called a Filipino Citizen. • •NATIONALITY can be acquired by being born in a country or by the process of legal applications called NATURALIZATION.

ETHNIC GROUPS Within a nation are smaller cultural groups that share specific environments, traditions, and histories that are not necessarily subscribed by the mainstream culture

GENDER refers to socially constructed roles, behaviors, activities, and attributes that a given society considers appropriate for •SEX refers to a biological characteristic of humans such as male or female. They have gender categories are more varied, accommodating identities such as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and intersex (LGBTQI), among others.

•HETEROSEXUAL – a person with this gender is inclined to be sexually attracted to a person of the opposite sex. •HOMOSEXUAL – a person who is sexually attracted of the same person. •GAY – is romantically and sexually attracted to another male. •LESBIAN - is romantically and sexually attracted to another female. •BISEXUAL – individual who attracted to both sexes. •ASEXUAL – capable attracted to any gender •POLYSEXUAL – attracted to multiple types of gender •PANSEXUAL – accommodate all types of genders

The activity of producing, transmitting and receiving meaningful symbolic messages in an environment such as schools, church or any social gathering is communication. Communication as a social context
