COMMUNICATION & ITS ELEMENTS

WHAT IS COMMUNICATION? The word communication is derived from the Latin word: ‘Communis’ means ‘to share’. Communication is a Two-Way process in which there is an exchange of Information towards a mutually accepted direction using either spoken or written mode of language that accompanies gestures, symbols, body language and illustrations.

There are Five Elements of Communication: Sender Receiver Message Medium Feedback

SENDER The Sender encodes an idea and transmits it to the receiver.

RECEIVER The Receiver decodes the meaning of the message transmitted by the Sender and tries to understand the significance of the message

Message It may be defined as the idea that is encoded by the sender either by words, expression and/or written materials.

Medium It is the channel or the pathway for the message to travel from the sender to the receiver. Written Word ART Written Word

Feedback It is the most important element of Communication. Feedback can be defined as the perceived idea of the original message transmitted by the sender to the receiver. Without a feedback, the communication remains incomplete
