Two types of numbers that
differ based on the number of
factors they have.
What are factors of a
number?
Factors of a number are numbers
that divide the original number
evenly. Factors are often assumed
to be positive, unless otherwise
stated.
Factors: 1, 2, 3, 6
Factors : 1, 2, 4
Factors : 1, 3, 7, 21
Composite Numbers
A composite number
has more than two
factors.
Factors : 1, 2
Factors : 1, 5
Prime Numbers
A prime number has
excatly two factors; 1
and itself.
