1. Conclusion
The process of learning and teaching has a lot of points to take into account. On one side
teachers have to be prepared to observe and study the group she is going to work with. Then
she has to select the materials, strategies, to fixate the purpose, to choose the activities, to
select the right method; it is a mix of things to do when teaching.
On the other hand, she has to decide how is going to be the relation with the students, I think
that this part is more difficult than the previous one, since sometimes we have to adapt our
way of being to each group. It is hard to be more patient than we are in our private life, to
search in our box of experience more strategies to explain the same topic one time after the
other, to close the eyes and start again.
I started the course thinking that I knew a lot of English and teaching; but every day I felt that I
knew less. After finishing the practicum period I realized that I have many things to learn,
many things to discover and to apply to my practices. I learned to work with children that did
not know to read or write, that was a real challenge for me, since I had to look for activities in
which they had to speak and listen only.
The job of teaching is not easy; there are a lot of daily changes; all the groups are different
from each other, many times we have to explain the same topic but using different strategies
that best suit with a particular group. A teacher always has to be uploaded to keep up with
students` life and habits.
To sum up, although sometimes I feel tired, I am sure that I have chosen the right way, I was
born to teach. The course does not finish here; it is the beginning, not the end. Now I have
more energy than before because I feel more confident, I feel ready to start working as a
teacher of English in all the levels.
