OVERVIEW Defination of: Education Training Best Practice Educational Curriculum Changes
DEFINITION OF EDUCATION The word education is derived from the Latin words educere , educare , and educatum which means ‘‘to learn”, “to know’’ and “to lead out’’ (Farrant, 1980). He therefore defines education as the process of leading out internal hidden talent of a child or person. ETYMOLOGICAL TERMS MEANING Educare To bring up, Educere To lead out or to draw out educatum The act of teaching or training
DEFINITION OF TRAINING According to Marsh (2004) training is the action of undertaking a course of exercise in preparation for a particular skill. For example, a sporting event. DEFINITION OF BEST PRACTICE Best practice is considered to be existing practices which have already achieved a high level of widely agreed effectiveness (Cohen, 1989). For example; there is a great deal of variation, and strategies which suit every teacher.
