Deeper learning approaches are beneficial for all students, because it incorporates real-life ideas into their learning as well as critical thinking skills that they will need outside of the classroom and in their future.

Incorporating deeper learning approaches in the classroom? Being willing to learn alongside students Giving students time to think through answers and encouraging multiple responses Providing examples that are relatable to students and offering experiential learning opportunities Anchoring learning around themes Giving students choices and options to demonstrate their learning Trying one new practice at a time; not taking on too many changes at once

Impact for teachers: The impact using deeper learning strategies is that this ensures the instructors have a structured time to collaborate with a team. Using deeper learning practices can help the teacher to encourage a positive struggle for the student and helping the student draw conclusions to real-life problems (MacFarlane, 2017)

“In a deeply personalized environment, it is likely that students across a classroom or school would simultaneously be working to improve across a wide range of learning outcomes” ( Dobyns , 2016).

Evidence! Study of Deeper Learning: Opportunities and Outcomes that set out to show the impact of mature and well-implemented deeper learning opportunities in select schools. They found that students in networked schools achieved higher scores on the global OECD PISA-based test for schools and exhibited higher levels of collaboration skills, greater academic engagement, and higher on-time graduation rates; further, the data showed greater likelihood of college enrollment than in comparison schools.
