PARTIAL THINKING HOLISTIC THINKING Looks at only a limited number of aspects of the given problem or situation Conclusions are made based on considering some but not all sides of the problem or situation. Looks at all aspects of the given problem or situation All aspects are given importance when making conclusions. All aspects are tied in together to form a general overview of the problem.

ACTIVITY 2 Students will be group into 3. Each group will apply a partial point of view and holistic point of view in the given situation. SITUATION: A doctor diagnoses his patient’s illness.

A holistic perspective does not only encourages us to be critical but also to be more considerate in dealing with others.  

ACTIVITY 3 Analyze the situation and identify which scenario represents partial thinking, and which one represents holistic thinking?

Situation 1: Planning a Birthday Party Imagine you're tasked with planning a birthday party for your friend. You have a limited budget and a list of tasks to accomplish.

Situation 2: Preparing for a School Exam Imagine you have a major school exam coming up. You have a textbook, class notes, and practice questions to study from.

Situation 3: Choosing a College Major You're a high school senior preparing to apply to colleges, and you need to decide on a major.

Situation 4: Planning a Family Vacation Your family is planning a vacation, and you need to decide on the destination and activities.

ACTIVITY 4 "The Mismatched Outfit" Students will be grouped into 2.

TEAM 1 Select 1 volunteer from the 1st group to be the model Blindfold the model The rest of the group will help the blindfolded model put together an outfit. Provide only one item of clothing or accessory at a time Hand the model an item without knowing what other items have been chosen. After the outfit is complete, remove the blindfold from the model

TEAM 2 Collaboratively devise a better-coordinated and fashion-forward ensemble for the model, taking into account the overall Describe or sketch the new outfit

TEAM 1 Reflect how your activity represents partial thinking. TEAM 2 Reflect how your activity represents holistic thinking

TEAM 1 Come up to a humorous result as they focused only on their individual contribution without considering the holistic outcome . TEAM 2 Collectively come up with a more coordinated and stylish outfit for the model, considering the overall look.
