5. Describing someone's appearances 01 To describe someone’s appearance, you will often use  adjectives . An adjective is a kind of word that describes a  noun  (a person, place or thing). Julie: Hey, do you know Mr. Alfin? Elsa: Mr. Alfin? The one with blue eyes, bold eyebrows, and lanky? Julie: No.. no, not that one. I mean Mr. Alfin with round glasses and sharp nose? Elsa: Ohh. He is my leader in Banking team. Why? Julie: Nope, we just met in 5th floor and he was smiling at me. It’s adorable.

7. Describing someone's mannerisms 2 Someone’s mannerisms are the way they act or speak. Since mannerisms are usually  actions , they are often described by phrases with  verbs  (action words). Many people have mannerisms that appear when they’re feeling something negative (bad) or positive (good) emotions. F or example they might  tap their fingers ,  crack their knuckles ,  bite their fingernails  or  chew the tips of their pencils , twirl their hair around their finger , roll their eyes , tilt their head to the side ,   stick out their tongue , rub the back of their neck ,  sigh a lot  or  clench their hands .

When you talk about someone, you might mention what they are like as a person. “I have circle of friends who are  nice  and  kind . They are a pleasure to be with and always seem to be smiling. These people are usually also   friendly  and  generous because they like to help me by giving them gift and surprise . I don’t like people who are   mea n like   unpleasant ,  nasty  or  vicious . Hopefully you don’t know anyone like this! ”
