Common name :~ Dhai, Dhataki, Dhai-ki-phool, woodfordia. Biological source:~ It consis Of flower of plant Woodfordia Fruticosa . FAMILY :~ lathracea.
Distribution It is a distributed throughout the greater part of India, up to 1600m in the himalaya. In Himachal pradesh, found in a the regions up to 1500m in open dry slopes, rocky fields, and waste – lands.
Description It’s a large, much branched deciduous shrub with bark scalling off in small patches, leaves are opposite or in whorls of 3, ovate, and lanceolate. The flowers and their calyces are bright red, the latter are permanent and retain their colour even after the flowers have faded. Flowers are arranged in short, clustered panicles in the axils of fallen leaves on the old wood and appear before the leaves.
Common uses Most important fermenting agents, Used for fertility agent, Anti-diarrhoel, Used in fever, Its flower powder relieves burning sensation on the skin, Alleviates kapha and pitta, The jam, prepared of its flowers control bleeding in menorrhagia, and The decocation of its flowers quenches the excessive thirst, especially in diabetic patients.
