Different Methods of preparation of the organic Compounds Class 11 chapter -12 Chemistry
There are basically 8 methods of preparation of the organic compounds Sublimation Crystallization Distillation Fractional Distillation Distillation under reduced pressure Steam distillation Chromatography Differential extraction.
First form of preparation of Organic Compounds Sublimation This is a method which is used to differentiate between the sublimable compounds from the non sublimable Compounds.
Second form of preparation of Organic Compounds Crystallization This is a process in which a suitable solvent is being differentiated due to the solubility's of the compound. When the solution is heated then the impure solvent is dissolved and on cooling the hot and the concentrated solution pure compounds crystallizes out
Third form of preparation of Organic Compounds Distillation This method is being used to separate the volatile liquids from the non volatile liquids as well as with those liquids that have sufficient difference in their boiling points.
Fourth form of preparation of Organic Compounds Fractional Distillation When the boiling points of the two liquids are not very high then they are being separated by the method of fractional distillation.
Fifth form of preparation of Organic Compounds Distillation under reduced pressure This method is being used to purify the liquids that are having the high boiling points and gets decomposed at or below their boiling points
Sixth form of preparation of Organic Compounds Steam distillation This method of separation is being used for those liquids that are steam volatile and immiscible in water.
Seventh form of preparation of Organic Compounds Differential Extraction When an organic compound is present in an aqueous medium it is separated by shaking it with organic solvent in which it is more soluble than in water. The aqueous solution is mixed with organic solvent in a separating funnel and shaken for sometimes and then allowed to stand for some time .when organic solvent and water form two separate layers the lower layer is run out by opening the tap of funnel and organic layer is separated. the process is repeated several times and pure organic compound is separated.
Eighth form of preparation of Organic Compounds Chromatography This technique is being used to separate the mixtures into various components, test the purity of the compounds and purify the compounds
